Troubador mentioned this band a couple years ago, and I didn't pay attention. I should have, though [Big Grin]
The original thread

The radio here started playing "Sly" by The Cat Empire about 2 months ago, so I decided to check them out, since that song was nice and Jazzy/Funky like I like, and man, I just gotta say I'm addicted now. I've never heard a band with such a broad ranging sound. If I wanted to throw a Ballroom Dance party, all I'd need to do is throw a Cat Empire CD in and we'd be set for an hour or more. Thus far I've found perfect music (With lots of soul and pep, perfect for dancing) for Swing (East-coast, west-coast, and lindy), Cha-cha, Samba, Rumba, and salsa.

The coolest part, I think, is the fact that one of the singers sounds almost exactly like Rocko the Wallaby. He's got great range, and does some pretty cool stuff with his mildly comical voice. It works pretty well. Being true to their Australian roots, they're have a pretty laid back and fun flow and sound to all their music, no matter what genre they try to fit (successfully, I might add). So yeah, take Troubadour's advice [Big Grin]

As Ben Stiller (in Starsky & Hutch) would say: Do it. Do it.
