I just loved this novel. Has anyone read it? Is the rest of the series worth reading? I am content to stop here if the general Hatracian opinion says one is enough.

This series has always interested me but I never had a chance to read. I wondered how the books were.

I've read it, but I didn't care for it much.

I was a big Robert Sawyer fan at the time. Calculating God was one of the better sci-fi novels I had read in a long time.

Hominids didn't do it for me, however. Sawyer's prose seemed to become a great deal more stilted with each novel.

Yeah, I didn't care for it either. I liked the idea, but I felt that the plot points were fairly predictable, and the execution generally clumsy. The second book is as good as the first one, though, so if you liked the first the second is worth a read.

The alien in Calculating God was far too much of a human in a rubber alien suit for my tastes. I've read four books by Sawyer, because his ideas are so interesting, but I haven't been terribly impressed by any of the actual stories.

I would suppose that if you like Hominids, you'll like the other two as well; personally I didn't care that greatly for them, although I haven't read Hybrids.

Hmmm, read the three.
The series as a whole is ok, not very good but it does not have a big drop in quality. So if you liked the first, you can read the next two without fearing a massive drop.

However, my favorite books from that author would be Flashforward or The Terminal Experiment. The one that I really didn't enjoy was Mindscan.

But your mileage may vary.

It's absolutely phenomenal. Definitely read the rest of it.
