The actor has a three film deal for "Prince Caspian" "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" and "The Silver Chair"!

It's been a while since I've read the book ... If they stay true to it, how young does he have to be?

The article says Caspian is 13 in the first book. If asked I would've sworn he was older. [Big Grin]

An age for Caspian is never given in the book (other than he was young), but C.S. Lewis' personal time line put him at age 13 in Prince Caspian, 16 in Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and in his late 70s/early 80s in The Silver Chair.

I hope Barnes has super-aging powers. How is that going to work out?

Cast an elderly actor for Caspian's two brief Narnian scenes, then use Barnes for the coda in Aslan's Country, most likely. [Smile]

Barnes has an impressive list of film, television, radio, and theatre credits, and has recently completed two films, "Bigga than Ben" and "Stardust".
(Scroll waaaay down).

I thought Caspian was younger, AND blonde?

I can't wait for Dawn Treader, that was always my favorite book. Silver Chair always bored me.

I loved The Silver Chair! Though possibly only because of the phrase 'as green as poison' an emerging kink.

He is CUTE! Oh man! I'm going to see this movie if only because he is fun to look at.

The Lady of the Green Kirtle is definitely one of my favorite Narnian villains.

Hmmm. Who would you cast as the Green Witch?

Caspian is younger in the book...his hair is described as "fair" in VDT and "golden" in SC.

Though, I'm more interested in performance. I can understand the age thing...since they already know they'll need this actor for at -least- two more films, going ahead and casting an older actor (whose appearance won't change so drastically) might be wise.

Plus, from the sound of things, they're making the PC Caspian more like the brasher, somewhat more flawed Caspian seen in VDT. Still a brave king with a heart of gold...but moments of ego and anger.

I thought Caspian was a grown-up. I read the books he was in many times, but I guess that was all before I was 9, so 13 sounded grown-up to me then.

lol... I thought he was younger even than 13 in Prince... (having had a nurse so recently) but even still... 25 is WAY too old, no matter how much make-up you use.... Plus in Dawn Treader there are several times where he will be swimming and such, and there's no way to make a 25-year-old look like a teen with no shirt on.

The script for the film has changed his age.

(And the book flashback covers a span from his very young childhood into his early teens. He didn't have the nurse "recently") [Smile]

25 is not too old if he looks like a teen (and this guy evidently does). Start with a 13 year old and you end up with God knows what, because puberty does strange things to people.

I think it is likely to work at least as well as the first Narnia movie, which was not disappointing, to me at least.
