quick semi-tech question: does anyone know a way within aim (or a good third-party program) to sign on/chat through multiple aim screenames?

I ask because I've had the same aim name since highschool, and lots of people know me by it, but then when I consider joining discussions like hatrack chat I'd like to use my current username (i.e. TheGrimace) so as not to be confusing...

Thx for any responses [Smile]

I recommend gaim, and it's utterly free.

The newest version of AIM probably manages linked screennames... Personally, I run gaim because it's bundled with ubuntu.

I use Gaim on Windows and Adium on Mac OS X. Both allow for multiple screennames at once. It's pretty good sutff.

I use 2 screen names on AIM with no problem. I log in with the one, and it logs the other one in as well. I can't remember what exactly I did, but it can be done.

I have an aol account, so I can log in with that, and then use aim with another sn. But I wouldn't advise having an aol account... I'm only an extra sn on my parents'.

I like DeadAIM, but that's because I'm old fashioned. It doesn't even work with the newer AIM models.

You go to "My AIM"... then "Manage Linked Screen Names"... then add whatever you want! [Smile]
