For some reason my internet ever since a few days after I got and installed my new d-link wireless router the internet will randomly disconnect for exactly ONE SECOND and then reconnect.

Problem: It will autodisconnect me from any and all apps that use the intenret, Eve/WoW/Company of Heroes/Teamspeak/MSN/etc/etc.

I contacted my ISP (Videotron) and its not on they're end and this never happened with the previous router, this happens to all 3 computers connected to the router at the same time so I can only reasonably assume its my router.

Does anyone know what settings could possibly account for this? I set my DHCP lease for 1.9 years so its not that, and DMZ is enabled on my computer but since it happens on ALL THREE computers at once (my laptop connected wirelessly, my moms desktop and my desktop) its probably not the DMZ.

We have that happen all the time as well. For us, historically, it was usually either the ISP timing out, or it's too many downloads causing problems. Fahim's ruled those issues out for the more recent occurrences. Now we don't know what's happening.

And for us, it's also all of our computers, hooked up to the one router, at the same time.

(Blayne, nice spelling & grammar & such. [Smile] Thanks. It was a pleasure reading this post.)

Seriously Blayne, I don't have a clue what you just said about all that computer junk, but it was a pleasure reading your post. You sound very mature when you use good grammar and spelling. Your true self showing through.

This has been happening for about a week now, i'ld say about starting at Dec 31st (During my Europa Universalis II game), I had my router installed since the 25th. So at least 5 days of the internet constantly disconnecting, a problem that has never to my memory happened before.

DSL speed/line quality test says everything is A-O-K with my internet connection. I'm assuming it is my router acting up, only issue is I don't know enough about what could go wrong with a routers internals to know how to troubleshoot/fix it.

Lies! Obviously a diabolical plot to get me to lower my guard.

Okay I found a firmware update and after having to redo nearly all my settings hopefully this will work.

Let us know if it works.

I think Fahim checked, but there were no firmware updates for our router, so that was a no-go for us.

If you find something that works, we'd like to know. It might provide us with a clue for what else we can try here. [Smile]

I had something kind of like this happen. although in my case it seems a lot more random. Every couple minutes, it just seems to decide to drop my internet connection for about 10 seconds to a couple minutes. The really weird thing is that this only happens in windows. When I boot up with linux, I never have any connection problems whatsoever. Considering all the bad things I've heard about linux and wireless cards, this definitely surprised me.

So, um, I suppose I really don't have anything to add other than to say that I know how much of a pain this is and I hope you get it fixed soon.
