We've only had round one of three rounds of present-opening (Ems was so excited she couldn't sleep, I'm waiting for her and Abba to wake to open presents, then over to my dad's; we did my mom's last night.)

Far and away, baby dolls are the popular gift for my girls this year (although I think Emma really loves the Superman dishes set my mom got her-- straw sippy cup, insulated straw sippy, bowl, plate, fork, and spoon, all with Superman on them-- I've created an addict.) My favorites so far are the car emergency kit from my grandma (has she been talking to our Home Teacher, who gave us bottled water? But it's an awesome gift), the Coco's gift certificate from my aunt (woo-hoo! A chance to eat out!), and the donation made on our behalf to a daycare center in Nogales that provides childcare, enriching activities, and nutritious food on a non-pay basis so that childrens' mothers don't have to make a choice between working to feed their families and caring for their children (one week of preschool daycare for a child has been provided in our names. What a beautiful cause, I love it!)

So far I've just done Christmas with my boyfriend...I got a Deftones t-shirt and a gift certificate to a local "adult" store. [Evil]

I'm having a good day so far.

From my boyfriend so far, I got a Santa hat, an Elf DVD, a biking shirt, and a stuffed Mumble. He says he made me something for Christmas as well, but he didn't have time to finish it before I had to leave town. Also, he took me out to eat at my most favoritest restaurant in the world.

And from my parents, super adorableness!

We're waiting until my nephew gets here to open gifts.

My siblings gave me the Order of the Stick board game and my parents gave me an LED flashlight, a wallet, a watch, and a t-shirt that says,

"Top 10 reasons to procrastinate:

1."

Oooh, cute puppy. Almost makes me less opposed to puppies. [Wink]

Emma was very happy with her Cabbage Patch Kid-- it's actually the "Big and Little Sister Kids" from Target, two in one package. In theory the little one is Bridget's but I don't think she'll care for a few years.

The hits of the year so far with Bridget seem to be rattles and books and a wooden boat from the One Spot at Target.

I'm happy with gifts we got from Jeff's parents-- a kid-safe nativity set and $100 gift card for the grocery store (INCREDIBLY useful.) I love the dress they got for Ems. And I am pleased with my present from Jeff, a DVD recorder-- which I actually bought. [Wink] (Woot and Tanga were our friends this Christmas.)

Stockings were a hit-- Emma can't decide whether she liked the tangerine, the chocolate, the Goldfish, the fruit snacks, or the Superman toothbrush and toothpaste best.

He's a huge, ginormous puppy for only being three months old. But he's very smart. [Smile] Huuuuuge paws, though. It's a good thing he's a fast learner; he'll be handful if he isn't trained.

And thanks, Blayne. [Blushing]

I didn't get anything today, but I got Family Guy Volume 4 from my secret santa (from my group of friends), a Feng Shui tips book from my secret santa (Hatrack), and a level from my roomie's mother. [Smile] (I can't hang things straight worth a damn)

One of those little balls for making homemade soft-serve, several magic books and DVDs, two killer magic effects, Ray Bradbury's Sound of Thunder, and a DVD on dong kid's birthday parties.

Case you can't tell, I'm trying a new line of work this year.

My kid does that, Doc. From what I understand, balloon animals are a big hit.

That's fun! I'm trying the balloon animal thing.

The best magic trick I do is probably the way I manage to make any animal, no matter what instructions I follow, look like a deformed dog.

Ah, practice, I know thee well.

I get gift certificates. My family has done this for about 8 years now. It's easier. It's actually better. Especially when they get me Walmart ones rather than Sears. Kinda tough buying food at Sears. Then my friend Tiff got me a Best Buy gift certificate.

As far as my giving...I made 2 boys very happy last yesterday. I stopped to drop some gifts off for my friend's 2 boys. They call me Uncle Stan, so I have to get them something. I was only told monster trucks. I bought them the biggest Grave Digger monster trucks I could find. I didn't know that that was their most favorite monster truck. So ignorance worked very much in my favor. *Loves his nephews (even if they not be related)*

Happy Christmas everyone! My parents gave me travel, boarding and registration for, dun dun DUN... Uncle Orson's Writing Class! It's not for more than eight months, but I am mad excited. I also got the complete Foundations Series, some cooking tools, clothes and a fire pit for my back yard. Over all a good day.

I got everyone in my family books this year. Mostly OSC, but a couple of Vonnegut, Steal This Book and The I Chong, Tommy Chong's memoir (man that guy is an extremist).

Again, happy holidays everyone, and have a fantastic New Years!

Merry Christmas to all!

Even though we don't exchange gifts with Christmas in our family, I did get some gifts because of my recent birthday.
First off a couple of posters (Gorillaz and Black Sabbath) to bring some new vibes into my home. Then a relief LOTR jigsaw puzzle (disregarding the fact that I'm still working on the last puzzle I got) and for my viewing pleasure some DVD's. (The Great Mouse Detective (memories...), Buffy season 2, Seinfeld season 5 and best of all six movies with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill) So I'll probably spend a lot of time in front of the TV in the first month of the new year.

I managed to get out of the house before anything real messy broke out, and I also got a B.O.C on woot last night. Now I'm just waiting until all of the relatives return to their respective houses or for the police to show up.

Does the puppy have a name yet? He's so cute!

From my boyfriend I got the Bath and Body Works robe. Its so soft, its unbelievable! And some massage oils (he's a great masseuse and I am the queen of tense muscles) and a really gorgeous picture of us framed. I refused to give him any hints for what I wanted and his gifts were perfect! I got him an armband for his new ipod nano, a homemade knitted hat, and a chef's memoir (bf wants to go to the Culinary Institute in a few years). He's been permanently attached to all of them.

My family got me some amazing gifts. My parents gave me a digital camera and its everything I wanted in a camera! My mom wrapped some black boots I picked out a few days ago and an Alton Brown book. And I got some Scrubs and Gilmore Girls dvds from my siblings. My dad got me a new case for my ipod (iSkin Claro...its indestructible) and some cds (Brothers Creegan and the Barenaked Ladies soundtrack from the Stratford Festival's production of "As You Like It.")

The best moment was my dad opening my gift to him. He hates cellphones and was so thrilled that one of the Stephen King books I got him was "Cell." He was cracking jokes for the next ten minutes.

I'm back from my dad's! I got books, including See Delphi and Die, which I've been coveting since it came out in March; socks, which I asked for; and there was a funny "oops" moment when my dad gave me the same DVD he gave me last year! He forgot who it was intended for and put my name on it; it's actually for a friend of theirs.

Jeff had Emma's help opening all his presents. He got a Norelco shaver, cordless and rinseable, which he's thrilled about. He also got some books. Emma got Curious George books and a chalkboard box with letter magnets and white and colored chalk and an eraser inside and her name painted on it, as well as jumbo crayons, colored pencils, and a sketch pad that she can draw in to her heart's content. Bridget's favorite was a funky toy ball that's bendable, bounceable, squishable, has lots of holes to grab, and is baby-safe. She was fascinated by it.

I got everything I asked for... course, what I asked for wasn't much, and it was textbooks [Big Grin]

Introduction to Quantum Mechanics by David J Griffiths
Introduction to Electrodynamics by David J Griffiths
Calculus by Edwards, Larson and Hostetler -- my old high school calc book. I needed a calc reference and I missed that old book.

And my dad got me the student version of Maple 10, with out me asking. Guess he realized what I was after from the book list I gave him.

Yeah, I'm a nerd.

I also got a bunch of candy and a grip master thingy for working on my climbing grip. I need to work on my crimp strength and this'll help a ton.

It was a good Christmas [Smile]

Merry Christmas everyone!

You know you're an adult when you get excited about socks and luggage. But I got both, and I was incredibly excited. I also got a great copy of the complete works of the Grimm Brothers and the Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell (I'm a fairytale/myth nut). I got Empire as well, which I'm very excited to read. What I got most of, however, was clothes. I got lots and lots of clothes, and I have to say that I'm incredibly excited! Yay Christmas!

We had a great Christmas! Our little girl got up at 6 and was very confused because we were awake and coherent and happy! Not normal for mornings for us, we're grouchy morning folk. She was confused at first but really got into the tearing open bit. She got a small kitchen set and my Mom got her a bunch of food and pots and pans for it so she was in hog heaven! My Hubby has had his present for a few weeks since he picked it out. A 22 inch monitor he claims he "needs", "it helps with my work". OK [Wink] . I finally got an engagement ring to replace the plastic Power Puff Girl ring with lip gloss inside one I originally received. I did keep it, it's in the fire safe, I did love it but I love this one too. It's a very simple band with an opal in the middle and a ruby on either side. I love it even more because opal is my little girl's birthstone. The best gift I got was watching her today have fun and run free with her cousin. She's the best Christmas present I ever got!

My family's living room, post-gift-opening: four people are wearing fabulous sweaters, and the fifth is wearing carpal tunnel therapy gloves [Wink]

So yeah, I definitely appreciated the gloves (and their effusive praise of the sweaters helped ease the pain some too), and I got a bunch of other knitting-related stuff including an interchangeable needle set and a book called Domiknitrix that I can't wait to read. Lots of chocolate, some bakeware, an All-Clad nonstick skillet that will last the rest of my life and substantial part of the life of whoever I bequeath it to, and a few other bits and bobs. Merry Christmas, everyone!

I got,

Some great clothes, new shoes (Doc Martins, Lands End) Nintendo Wii + Zelda + Dragon Ball Z, and a new kitten that I wub.

$30 gift card to my favorite restaurant, new electric shaver, cologne, great hand bag, some World of Warcraft TCG cards, a compendium of all Spy VS Spy comics (LOVE THIS BOOK!), and a copy of the constitution from my best friend.

Its a very merry Christmas, but probably more so because I have a wonderful wife to spend it with.

Wow, Alcon, you are a nerd. My sister's a psych major and she asked for the DSM-IV-TR, but she also asked for normal 20 year old girl things. [Razz] . (She got it by the way. It's freaking awesome)

Ecthalion, tell me you got Victoria Square gift cards. I did. We have to go see The Good Shepherd and Night at the Museum this week.

I got ... A printer, a Deluxe Turntable Scrabble set, the OSPD4 (Official Scrabble Players Dictionary 4th Edition), some awesome bookends my little sister made, quite a few old books (I have a collection of books over 100 years old), "Monty Python and Philosophy" (oh yeah), some clothes, some gift cards, Serenity, and ... Medieval II Total War!!! And it works on my laptop! Woot!

So yeah, it was a good Christmas. No real disappointments. And I'm so stoked that Total War works on my comp.

Oh, and I get to hang out with Pearce ... what night is it? One night or the other. [Razz]

Oh, and I got some mini artist type book things too! We'll have to compare.

I got a bunch of DVDs (all of Arrested Development, the most recent Simpsons boxset, the most recent Seinfeld boxset, Superman Returns, and a Justice League cartoon DVD), Empire by OSC, an import Nintendo DS game, Star Trek Encounters for the PS2, some clothes (a polo shirt of sorts, some pants, and some PJ bottoms) and then some gift cards/money. It's quite a bit of stuff and should keep me quite occupied for the next month or so (if not longer).
