Pontiac Solstice

Looks better than a porsche, imo.

Unless someone dish some dirt I'm not aware of about this model, I think I may buy one.

Looks pretty cool. I doubt it's going to be under 20K unless you get bare-bones and find a good deal though. I mean, if you're going to buy a car to be awesome, it's hard to settle for no options.

It's a Pontiac.

100,000 powertrain warranty I believe, I'm not sure what that covers, but I think the most expensive stuff still expires after a couple years.

The top on that thing is pretty shoddy. I looked at getting one a few months ago, as I thought it was the sweetest looking car ever for the price. It's a low end convertable, and you feel it. The seals aren't totally weather proof, it isn't the safest thing ever, and once you add in some of the bells and whistles you'd usually associate with a roadster the price jumps somewhat fast. It's still cheaper than anything else that looks or performs as well, but there's a reason it's so cheap.

Still....it's one sweet looking road. If I didn't live in Michigan, I'd still consider it.

Oh, man. I thought you meant the Tesla Roadster. There's no way life could be so kind.

Power train covers the engine block and transmission. Neither part is known to fail often during the first 100,000 miles when properly maintained, so companies don't lose much by offering massive powertrain warranties.

True, but then neither do the customers...

After GM's multi-year and model fiasco with the lower intake manifold gasket on its 3.4L v-6 engines, it makes a lot of sense for them to do this to alleviate customers concerns. Most failed in the neighborhood of 30-60K, and almost all by 100K. It's a $700 fix for a $70 part due to the labor involved. This is their bid to win back customer confidence. I don't know if it will work for me, I doubt it.

So... are you choosing this over the motorcyle now, Gecko?

All the reviews of it that I've read have been positive. The base model doesn't offer any sort of amazing performance, but the GXP version (which costs about $26,000) has 260 horsepower and can almost keep up with $45,000 BMWs.

Eck, it's ugly. Give me a 60s Porche any day. Or a 50s one as long as no one died in it.

Ugly? It's a pretty pretty car.

Still, it's no 60's Corvette Stingray.

Oh, dream car, where are thou?

Corvette's aren't that great either, but then my dad's best friend died in one the night before graduation.

You don't like Corvettes either? What roadsters do you like?

Personally, I like the looks of the Saturn Sky much more than the Pontiac Solstice.
