Amid concerns about whether Son'y upcoming PS3 will be able to take keep its number one position in the market share that Iit has kept during the past two generations of console systems, something else comes and hinders Sony's progress. (Sorry- just wanted to try writing like that)

I for one hope the Wii will take the place of Sony. I personally would like to see the PS3 take #2 with the 360 last- because I prefer Sony console system to Microsoft's.

Sony has announced it's November launch date does not apply to Europe. Only to North America and Japan- I think this is another in a series of fatal flaws in the Sony campaign's of the PS3.

I think Australia got left behind too.

There's also insane news flying around that Sony is essentially lying about its production numbers, since the figures released are impossible in some way. I'll just go try to dig that up --

Sadly, the odds of my forking over 500+ bucks for a system that may include one game are so low, that Sony has already lost the game that would have involved me buying a PS3.

That's at least 10 new PC games... wow.

And yes, the issue in that article will cost them huge. Missing a Christmas season in any market when your competitors do not, will feel like a good ole fashioned beating.

Hopefully Sony will fail miserably.

The strange issue:

They (Sony) have pie-in-sky plans for six million units by March. Fishy on account of new production numbers.

They are launching with 500k units due to what Ken Kutaragi described as "problems in mass producing elements of the high-definition Blu-ray disc drives in the machines" (NOTE: May not be true; previous Sony explanations for PS3 delays were lies)

400k units for launch in the United States.

100k units for launch in Japan.

0k for Europe.

WHAT THIS MEANS:

- leet traderz: get Sony out of your stock portfolio if you haven't already.

- venture capitalists: buy as many launch PS3's as you can get your hands on, then resell them for buku bucks on Ebay.

Seriously. For comparison, launch shipment of Xbox 360 (a system with less than half sony's market share at the time) was 1.1 million units, most sold.

In 2001, launch shipment for the original Xbox was 1.4 million units, all sold in the first six weeks.

Gamestop promised that they would have 700k PS3's for launch.

Chaos!
