I'm preaching tomorrow night at my church's youth service. It'll be my first time speaking for an extended period of time in front of a large group of people, so I'm vaguely nervous. I've acted before, and taken a Speech class (which I did good in), but I've been going to this church for 12 years, almost every sunday and wednesday I've been in the state (or country). It's just gonna be weird, being the speaker. It's an odd feeling really. I'm not really that nervous about embarassing myself. I don't care especially if I do. This is my second to last wednesday before I leave for college, and I don't care what most of these people think anyways. So in that sense I'm not nervous. But then, I do have something I want to say and I'll be dissapointed if I flub up and am not able to communicate. So I am nervous. Vaguely. And I know, I'm rambling horribly and am barely coherent. It's been a long day. Just wish me luck, if you would, and keep me in your thoughts and prayers around 7:15 PM EST [Smile]

I'll be thinking coherent thoughts to you! : )

Eh - just talk. Let it come out... you'll be awesome.

Well, as is evidenced by the fact only one person responded to this post, I'll assume no one cares that I did a pretty good job [Wink] . I got a lot of compliments. One guy said "Now see, I could sit through a history class taught by you" and one girl came up to me all puffy eyed like she'd been crying and thanked me for sharing, it really helped clear a lot of things up for her. [Dont Know] Who knew I'd be a decent public speaker.

I didn't see this, Dr. Strangelove or I would have posted. I'm glad it went well.

I personally love public speaking and enjoy encouraging others, I've always found sharing in front of people to be enjoyable.

Thing is, I'd get more nervous speaking to a group of people who knew me well, like my church, than I would speaking in front of 10,000 strangers. I'm sure it was a difficult thing for you to do but it sounds like you did make an impact. You should be proud of yourself. [Smile]
