I didn't want this to get lost in the World of Warcraft thread, so...would any Hatrackers be interested in starting a D&D Online guild? My D&DO account is currently deactivated, but that's because I couldn't find a guild to join and you really can't solo. If you haven't played it yet, here's my take on the game:

1: Richer character creation than any other MMO, because they've essentially implemented D&D v3.5 rules. You can play any of 9 classes (fighter, barbarian, ranger, sorceror, wizard, bard, paladin, cleric, rogue), and can multiclass with no XP penalty. All classes play very similar to how they play in the PnP game. You also can choose a race from: human, dwarf, halfling, elf, warforged, drow (dark elf).

2: All quests are instanced. Always. There's no common area with enemies to grind like in WoW or CoH. You're usually fighting your way through dungeons with puzzles, traps, and creatively different forms of enemies. The only problem with this is that the traps aren't randomized, so they aren't generally a problem the second time through.

3: Slower levelling. The level cap is 10 at the moment, but it should be raised to 12 shortly. Playing casually, it'll take a while to get to 10. However, you get a lot more variety a lot more quickly than in most MMOs.

4: Quests generally don't adjust for soloing. This means that you really can't get very far fighting solo no matter how you build your character.

5: They haven't implemented a lot of the "persistent world" features that add depth to WoW or Eve Online, such as PvP combat or player-created markets.

6: In game voice chat! You don't have to bother with another program like Teamspeak to talk to your teammates.

So, would anyone be interested in starting a guild? Unfortunately, I won't be able to play for 2 weeks, but I'll be quite free to play after.

What is the cost?

It's a standard MMO pricing, something like $15/mo. after the initial purchase (which is $30-$40 and comes with a month, if I remember correctly.) I'm not quite sure how the initial purchase price comes out if you do the 7 day free trial (http://www.ddo.com) and then upgrade.
