They said the Mac Pro is $1000 cheaper then a comparable computer from Dell.
The decor (Apple's important fassion statements) includes MacPros and more jabs at Microsoft like:

Spring 2007, I can't wait that long. Looks nice, bootcamp built right in, with nice new features to boot, definitely worth any extra money.

Human, do you know if they're planning a 12" MacBook Pro? I love my 12" PowerBook and am in the market for a replacement shortly (it's going on four years old), but the new 15" are too expensive and the plain MacBooks neither powerful nor svelte enough for me.
What gives??

Kasie: No, there's too much similarity between the Macbooks and the Macbook pros, plus that they want consistency in having an iSight and such (constraining the form factor). Svelte is hard to address (the black Macbook, perhaps?), but don't worry about power. The Macbooks perform comparably to the Macbook Pros across the board, only excepting games (and maybe the rare app to use the video card for other purposes).

When they first came out with that black one, I wondered what on earth was the point. PCs are black boxes; Macs are pretty, other colors like silver and white.
Were the iBooks and the PowerBooks so different that they needed the 12"?

Yes, there were many differences (including significant performance differences) between the iBooks and Powerbooks that meant the 12" iBook was not suitable for many people's needs (particularly pro photographers').
Interestingly, black is a more classic mac color than white, black became very popular as a laptop color partly because of the very attractive black powerbooks, back in the day.

I'm in the same boat, but I actually bowed and got a 13" MacBook. It is much faster than my old 12" PowerBook. The only thing is the graphics card. I haven't done side by side comparisions between the the PowerBook, but I know the OpenGL app I use alot is a bit slow on the MacBook Pros. The thing is that it didn't even work on the Powerbook.
And I absolutely LOVE the 13 inch widescreen. The trackpad take some getting use to because it is huge, and if you have 2 fingers on it, it scrolls instead of moves the pointer. And the keyboard is different, but I haven't noticed it except maybe I type a bit more accurate.
