I'm looking for some things to listen to at work-radio and internet radio are out. I was wondering what some of the best free podcasts are out there?

(I own an iRiver H10 which plays mp3 and wma, but not apple's proprietary stuff. I assume most podcasts are in mp3 form).

Get some Chris Rock or Dane Cook.

Comedy is good. I was also wondering about science oriented material as well as fairly evenhanded political commentary.

If you ask me Internet radio never went out.

Sorry...I meant internet radio and radio are not options for me to listen to at work, not that they were obsolete. Internet radio sites are blocked by our corporate filter, probably for bandwidth reasons.

I was kind of interested in NPR like programs I guess...not really music or anything. I subscribe to Yahoo Music ToGo, so I have all the songs I want to listen to.

Sorry I haven't been very clear.

CBC Radio 3, depending on your taste in music.

Added: Oops, didn't see your follow-up. Sorry.

Well, to bad you didn't have a video iPod. Then you could get the Strong Bad podcasts!

Penny-Arcade had a few, but they haven't made any for a while I don't think...

If you want a good summary of the better conservative talk show hosts of the week (Medved, Prager, Hewitt, etc), check out the Town Hall Weekend Journal.

Chris Rock can be hilarious at moments. Dane Cook...a huge disappointment really. His Comedy Central standup (uncut) and first album were awesome. Retaliation was okay. Then Tourgasm exposed him for the unoriginal, spoiled, whiny baby he truly is, and I just haven't been able to enjoy him since.

If you're looking for an absolutely hilarious, non-political, family appropriate comedian, look no further than Brian Regan. He only has one album and a DVD out at the moment, but they're both excellent.
