I listen to NPR almost religiously in my car. This week was just the perfect week for me of Fresh Air.

Terry interviewed Richard Linklater(one of my favorite directors), Thom Yorke(lead singer of Radiohead, one of my favorite bands), Robert Downey Jr.(who is pretty cool), and Steve Coogan(who is absolutely hilarious).

Granted, the last two interviews were repeats, still cool to have them all in one week. AND, today was science friday, which I always enjoy.

Anyone else enjoy the week?

Cool! I caught Thom, but didn't know about the others. I will have to check them out. The other awesome thing about Fresh Air is that they are all archived online for a long way back. [Smile] Thanks for the heads up!

I love going through old Fresh Air interviews. Also, This American Life archives. Especially when I only get to hear part of a broadcast in my car and am left stranded as to the rest of the story!!!

Yes! Check out Terry's interviews with John and John of They Might Be Giants, for instance. She has really good taste in music, if you ask me. And very eclectic tastes, as well.

So many of her interviews have been really funny and interesting. I loved the one with that guy (John Waters?) who specializes in making hilariously bad B movies, and the one with the Monty Python dude who writes the songs (Terry something).

One of the most hilarious ones was Gene Simmons, because he acted really horrible! He was so arrogant and rude, and just a total jerk not to mention idiotic.

Terry kept her cool, at least in the parts that aired, but Click and Clack teased her about it afterward by saying "And though Terry Gross turns off the radio and puts on her old Kiss albums whenever she hears us say it.... this is NPR, National Public Radio." [ROFL]

I catch a lot of Fresh Air/NPR with my forty minute commute now, and i caught both the Robert Downey Jr. interview and the Coogan one. I really like Downey Jr., and I loved him on Ally McBeal. Steve Coogan's a riot, and i realized after listening to them introduce him that i've actually seen most of the movies that he's well known for (except Tristam Shandy, which i *wanted* to see, but haven't gotten around to) Coogan's imitations were spot-on, but too short...i love hearing good celebrity impersonations.

you know, i heard Click and Clack do that joke, but never heard the Fresh Air interview they were referencing. it all makes sense now. [Smile]

oh, yeah, Steve Coogans imitations were great. Espeically Michael Caine. It was spot on.
