I just took an online quiz on what faith you are. I assumed I was either Buddhist, or had no religion. Well, I took the quiz and I am 100% Quaker. WOW. I was supprised. What's your faith?
or if that doesn't work go to Beliefnet.com and find quizzes.

The last time I took this, iirc, it said I was God. Either there's a flaw in that test, or I'm owed a lot of back royalties.

I find it amusing how many times this site has been posted . I think I've taken it three times, and considering I always need to put "None/NA/Don't Care" for just about every question, I wonder why I've taken it that many times.
I always come up strongly for secular humanism and nontheist. Surprise surprise .
I do remember that Brinestone didn't score very highly for LDS, and was kinda shocked by that. I went through and put in the answers I suspected a mormon would answer from my knowledge of them, and only managed to get them up to number two or three.

Interesting. It got me right, even though I think I might have answered things a little differently than official church doctrine. And there were some things where I didn't like either answer. Usually, I get a lower score for SDA.

I think they've revised their test. I came out 100% LDS now, which is accurate, but in the past I think I've ended up rather indefinable, and I don't think my beliefs or the way I would respond to them have altered much. I dunno, maybe I was doing a different test before.

I think it would be an interesting experiment for everyone to seriously investigate the religion that is at the bottom of their list.
Of course, I find reading about religions fun...so I might be biased.

1. I find it amusing that as a lapsed Catholic my #1 was sikhism =p
2. I'm not sure how much others ran into this but I was annoyed by the options to most of the questions as generally I'd agree heartily with half the wording of an answer but not the other half etc... i.e. something about universal good, but then it also throws in reincarnation...
I'd like it more if there were just more questions but each answer would only address 1 aspect, not multiple, but it was fun nonetheless.

I guess that's pretty accurate. It looks like Unitarian just means that it doesn't matter what you believe, as long as your spiritual (If I'm wrong, I gladly welcome corrections). Neo-Pagan is great, I think I'm going to start telling people that's my religion. I did think Buddhism would be higher, but I don't believe in reincarnation, so I guess that screwed me there. Mostly I'm suprised that Scientology is so high on the list.

My #1 is Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants, which I find somewhat strange. It's altogether too biblical, and I thought my answers were in contrast to that whole philosphy. I guess I scored highly with them regarding my beliefs on human suffering and contemporary issues.
After reading over some of the other religions in my top 10, I think I would associate myself more with neo-paganism than anything else. Really though, I consider myself agnostic. I just didn't like the "Not sure. Not important" choice, as it seems a little too easy and a little less fun.
Posted by Angiomorphism (Member # 8184) on :
yes I agree fitz, I feel like they could have provided alot more detailed questions on the humanist/neo-pagan/agnostic/atheist side to figure things out more, but it is called the "faith" quiz... not the "not-faith" quiz

I took this last time, but I decided to do it again to see how things have changed as I continue to try to evolve and discover my spiritual beliefs. Fairly different this time:
quote:1. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (100%) 2. Bahá'í Faith (94%) 3. Liberal Quakers (92%) 4. Unitarian Universalism (85%) 5. Reform Judaism (83%) 6. New Age (71%) 7. Jehovah's Witness (27%)
Mainline to liberal Protestantism was somewhat high last time, but not as much. Last time, I think Bahá'í was at the top of my list, followed by Judaism. As I recall, LDS was reasonably high on my list last time, and now it's rather low. Given how much my answers de-emphasize the role of a Jesus-like figure, and how much difficulty I have with the concept, I'm not sure how Christianity snuck to the top of the chart. I am rather surprised by how low on the list Catholicism is this time, as I was raised Catholic, and I seem to think it was much higher last time. Actually, seeing that conservative/fundamentalist protestantism is higher on the list than Catholicism is seems to indicate that this time this quiz really misinterpreted my answers somehow, because I differ quite emphatically with fundamentalist conservative Christians (on theological grounds).
Anyway, thanks for bringing this up again! It was interesting to try it again, but I certainly would not have thought of it on my own.

I am amazed that Eastern Orthodox came so low. But, then, reading their article about it, it is clear that this does not refer to the liberal Greek Orthodox Church under the guidance of Bartholomew, a hero of mine, but the more traditional types.

Hmm, I always figured I was something of a Philosophical Taoist, so I'm surprised it is only 70%.... But then they probably are talking about Religious Taoism so thinking about it now, that makes sense.
The Mainline to Liberal Protestants doesn't sound anything like my answers, except in the "ethical" beliefs as opposed to "religious", if that makes any sense. They might as well have just put "Flaming Liberal".

Hey, wait a second... Church of Bob??
How would one go about learning more about that?

You jump into deep water and let yourself float up and down until enlightenment comes.

Hmm. Close. Of course, I de-emphasized most of the social issues. I currently identify as a non-theist, but this quiz probably latches onto some of the christian values common to people from western Kansas.

So, here's something fun (for dataheads like me).
I took the 20 people in this thread who posted the full 27 element belief vector and computed the Euclidean distances between everyone. These represent, in some sense, similarity of beliefs. A smattering of results (I'll post the full distance matrix if people are interested):
Most similar beliefs: TStorm and Alcon Least similar beliefs: vonk and Dagonee Most common beliefs (minimum average distance): Icarus Most uncommon beliefs (maximum average distance): Dagonee <edit>People most similar to me: aragorn64, Steev, BaoQingTian People most dissimilar to me: Alcon, Luet13, vonk</edit>
