Due to the climate of political correctness now pervading America, Kentuckians, Tennesseans, North Carolinians, Virginians and West Virginians will no longer be referred to as "HILLBILLIES."
You must now refer to us as
APPALACHIAN-AMERICANS.
Thank you!
Now if you'll excuse me, I got possums to fry...

Speaking as an Ozarkian-American I applaud this move by Appalachian-Americans and wish them all the best.
Pass me some of that there possum.

Actually the now non-PC term 'hillbillies' only exist in East Tennessee. The rest of them are rednecks.
Now see- I live in TN and lived there all my life- but my mother made sure to raise me like a Yankee.

I want to start a movement to get Michiganders renamed as Mitten-Americans, or Troll-Americans.
Both are fun.

We're still calling you lot white trash behind your backs, though, right?

And what would be the PC term for those of us from New Jersey? The Exit Elite?

Tante, you're all still "Yous guys."

I suppose that would make me "Pacific-Northwestern American"
Sounds like an airline company.

Virginians? Hey, don't get us mixed up with our Appalacian-American friends to the west...

I thought the PC term was "Children of the Sun"?

See, Tresopax, there's a whole bunch of Virginia to the south and west of Charlottesville that qualifies as Hillbilly country.
I love Virginia; we've got class, we've got the Tech Corridor, and we also have bluegrass and (for everyone else) moonshine stills. We are the perfect example of the Beautiful South.
