#7 is from probably a good 20% of all movies. But, just picking one at random, let's say Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

As long as we're going along the lines of 7 and 14 though, maybe next time you can add "Cover me, I'm going in" or "We've got company" to the list.

#15 sounds like it was from this movie I saw a few years ago, but I have no idea what it was called. It was about some kid that runs away from school with his friend...I really don't remember anything beyond that. I don't even remember if I saw the whole thing.

I think 4 might be from Patton, but it's been several years since I've seen that, and I may be confusing it with something else.

I thought it would be easy coming up with 20 movie quotes, but a lot of my favourite lines from movies are exchanges of dialogue, instead of single quotes. But, here's what I came up with.

Dark Star was written by the guy that wrote Alien. And he wrote it before he wrote Alien. He said Alien was basically Dark Star made scary. He also played Sgt. Pinback in the movie and said the given quote.

One more to go. How about some more hints? The question that prompts quote #10 is, "Is that gun loaded, boy?" and is said by a white police officer to a young black man who, along with several of his friends, are brazenly displaying rifles on a city street.

The bonus question starred Shadoe Stevens, and also had Priscilla Barnes (erstwhile of "Three's Company") and Robert Davi was the villain. And I keep hoping it comes out on DVD some day.

Wait, wait, wait...I just noticed the "badges" quote is attributed to Blazing Saddles. While probably technically accurate, the quote was originally in Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Not that it matters, I suppose, but just so everyone realizes it was a reference.

I just looked it up on imdb: "Badges? We ain't got no badges. We don't need no badges. I don't have to show you any stinking badges."

Its not just directed at you, but a lot of the quotes chosen for the game so far haven't exactly been quotes you'd remember. They're obscure lines that could be from just about any movie.

Perhaps we should make a rule in future to try and pick unique and memorable quotes.

At least that way we wouldn't get stuck in situations like this with no one guessing several of them.

Shall I end the round and put in what I found? I didn't want to cheat with it.

And as for the obscurity, I would think that if the quotes were too obvious, the game would go way too quickly, the same couple people would keep winning over and over, and it would all get boring too soon. I do agree that unique quotes would be appropriate, but I think there needs to be at least a little bit of a challenge.
Course, what do I know. It wasn't my game to start with.

It is a memorable line IF you've seen the movie. As noted by people who looked it up, they all remember the exact scene the line was delivered in the movie.

It's not an obscure quote. It's one of the least expected and amusing lines in the movie. So, go yell at someone else.

I love that movie because of the relationships and what can happen with honest misunderstandings. And the value of a vivid imagination.

Alcon, #19 is a lot sweeter and more innocent than either of those movies (neither of which I've seen). The movie with the trashiest language (and themes, for that matter) of the bunch is #14, but is on my list of favorites because of the soundtrack.

No for both, but you're on the right track. Like Casablanca, #11 won for Best Picture. But I should put it, "like #11, Casablanca won for Best Picture", because #11's film won first.

#2 is 10 years older than the Man Who Wasn't There, and stars at least three of the same actors from another movie on the list already identified. The already identified movie was nominated for 3 Oscars, winning only 1.

Peter. I don't know that I would have gotten it with that quote, to be honest. It's been awhile since I last saw the movie. I considered "I'm not Margaret." instead, but thought that was a dead giveaway, if you'll pardon the pun.

I think #3 of Goody's list should be:

Nitpicky, but that's the way it's said in the musical in which it appears. I remember it now, but only after Googleing to check my answer. It's not South Pacific. Or Mary Poppins.

Yeah, 12 was East of Eden. It's a great movie, and one that James Dean almost got an Oscar for. It's definitely got to be one of my favorites.

#11 is a small film that also stars Timothy Hutton, Matt Dillon, and Uma Thurmon. It's set in a small town in New Hampshire.

#15 also stars an amazing cast, including Carol Burnette, Michael Caine, John Ritter, Christopher Reeve, and Denholm Elliot (he played Marcus in Indiana Jones). It also includes a play within a play.

Yay for Cannibal the musical! I just saw that the other day, and it was hilarious. The best is to watch it with the commentary on. Classic!

Wow I can't help but confess the thrill of victory was sucked out with that my apologies for breaking protocol with using the internet, just thought I'd be honest as I thought once the movie was posted the bonus point was off limits, I was not expecting to get a point for it, but I certainly was not attempting to remove point opportunities for others, you may diqualify me if you feel so inclined.

Verification is fine, IMO, as long as you understand that you should take yourself out of the running if you are wrong (regardless if you *think* you would have gotten it eventually; that happened to me with the Batman quote on vonk's list).

I agree that verification is fine, but if you found out you are wrong, you can't put the correct answer. Likewise, I assumed that if you had no idea, checking the internet was off limits. But it's whatever, it's just a game.

Don't worry BlackBlade, you aren't disqualified. Seeing as how SenojRetep wouldn't have gotten that one, he wouldn't have been able to pull of the two points to win anyways. So it's cool. No worries.

1) is a Chinese movie called "To Live" or "HuoZhe" I never get tired of watching that movie. Be warned it is a VERY sad story, but it tells a very important story. I recommend it to anyone.

Perhaps a suggestion for the next round? Maybe have it so that at any one time you can only post three quotes you know. Then you either have to wait for someone else to post or wait an amount of time (say... 15-30 minutes?)

That way there's more competition and the person who sees the new list doesn't get the 'easy one!' advantage quite as badly.

Just to reiterate... Googling, even just to check a guess is cheating. Make the guess, but touch google or IMDB and you invalidate yourself.

Nope, not allowed even for that. Post your guess, you'll find out whether or not your correct or not when they quote poster checks your answer. If you enter it into google at all, even if you're mostly sure, then you're not allowed to submit it as an answer.

There have been a few I was about 70% sure on. But not sure enough to post. So I googled cause it was bothering me. Even if I was right I would then not post, it was for someone brave enough to guess with out google to get it.

I basically post my answers and then Google the ones I was unsure of. If I don't know the answer and I google it I simply disqualify myself from answering those particular movies.

Most of the time I didnt know the movie and I had no chance of guessing right.

Probably does not help that IMDB does not have any quotes from #6 but its certainly listed and has alot of other details about it.

The movie is Chinese, its English title is 3 words and its Chinese title is 4.

I started laughing as soon as I heard the theme music to Chicken Run at the beginning

I don't know if you care for tragic movies based on historical events. Or if you can handle a 3 hour movie. But the acting in Farewell My Concubine is just amazing, and the events of the story are beautiful when happy and very difficult to watch when sorrowful.

Were I to pick my two favorite movies from Chinese cinema (and believe me there are good many) Farewell My Concubine and To Live would top my list. Too bad I can't get a hold of a copy of To Live on DVD anywhere and I cant afford to pay $40 for it, I hope the reissue it.
