KoM lost his third war in a row 8)

Cours' I'm not doing all that much better as the Middle Kingdom, gaining inflation like no tomorrow to pay bakc my debts.

I'd be nice if I were you; by 1700 Norway will be able to mop up China like a wet dishrag. And Poland will stand by and cheer, because he's worried about you being too powerful in Vicky.

Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :

... damn.

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

Not to mention that, at his current rate of expansion, he'll be right into the Siberian corridor by 1600. That means reaching China in 1700, and marching troops overland through his own colonies to kill you.

bu shi! Never!

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

Why not? China is a splendid place to conquer for Vicky, full of coal and silk and other good stuff. And he'll be two or three CRT levels ahead of you; which is to say, given a good leader, four-to-one odds, defending a mountain behind a river, and a bit of luck, you may win one battle in five. [Smile] In other words, you'd better help me since I would never dream of doing any such thing.

eeep... i was just messing with you cuz of the nyah nyah nyah thread...

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

Well, it is possible that I exaggerated ever so slightly the ease of conquering China. Still, around 1700 I think I'd be quite polite to any European envoys, were I you.

Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :

i really really dont want or need the historical events, unless somehow the time lost could be made up recoving form them.

Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :

and yeah I am alway polite to my vassals.

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

Heh. You know, I tried that attitude when I played China in a Vicky game once. Russia invaded me and sacked Beijing. Then the Ottomans invaded me and took away Afghanistan. Then the British invaded me, sacked Beijing, and added a good chunk of land to the Raj.

...... It will not Happen! Qin Shi Huang watches over us.

You know, boys, maybe this conversation would be better conducted over IM or email.

What game is this?

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

Europa Universalis II. You can play Japan, if you like. We need you to keep China in check. [Smile]

Posted by SoaPiNuReYe (Member # 9144) on :

Is it online? Where do you play it?

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

Not online, no, it's a boxed game with multiplayer capability. So you'd need to buy it first. Pretty cheap if you can find it, though,, it's an old game.

Posted by SoaPiNuReYe (Member # 9144) on :

i read a review on it. It seems a lot like risk.
The only computer games i play are warcraft 3 and starcraft so i might check this one out.

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

Well, yes, it is 'a lot like risk' in the same sense that Hiroshima is 'a lot like' a wet firecracker.

Odd analogy KoM, and yet ... I'm intrigued.

Posted by SoaPiNuReYe (Member # 9144) on :

Sounds like a cool game. Is this turn based, play by email?

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

No, real time, sit-at-the-computer-once-a-week.

Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :

or if your like me every 2 days in single player [Smile]

But mplayer play Ive only managed to get going once well 3 times a week if i count the othe r2 games I'm in.

Posted by Earendil18 (Member # 3180) on :

Did you say MPlayer? I used to play Mechcommander on that back in the day ('97ish)

Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :

mp == multiplayer

mplayer = multiplayer.

??? how does it == Mechcommander?

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

mplayer was an old matching service (similar to battle.net, but it was it's own entity, not owned by a developer). You could use it to play multiplayer games of Warcraft 2, Mechwarrior, and others.

I see, Blayne, I SEE.

idk PC, its n2m of a big deal.

Posted by Primal Curve (Member # 3587) on :

Well, if you want to sound like one of the drooling masses, go right ahead.

Posted by Dr Strangelove (Member # 8331) on :

[Razz] . It's not so much wanting to sound like one of the drooling masses, it's being able to. It's like being able to play "Mary had a Little Lamb" on the guitar, piano, etc. It's just nice to slip into it every once in a while for some fun. The disturbing thing is when people can't seem to slip back into intelligent speech.

Posted by El JT de Spang (Member # 7742) on :

You say slip back, which implies they were there before. This is where we disagree.

Posted by Dr Strangelove (Member # 8331) on :

You make a valid point.

Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :

quite frankly I'll be able to figure out how well I can do vs the West after next session, with Manchu to annex, tech to gain, Japan to subdue and all of South East Asia to dominate.

Posted by King of Men (Member # 6684) on :

I don't see how that is a 'quite frankly'. Why would you not be frank about it? But apart from that, I disagree anyway, for the good and simple reason that you are not in a position to judge until you've tried fighting someone one or two CRTs above you. As for Japan, personally I hope we can find a player and a divine wind. [Smile]

Posted by Blayne Bradley (Member # 8565) on :

muahaha, Yuan dynasty was a few hundred years ago, I have no reason to annex Japan I mean more of the lines of "subduing" to mean defeating it militarily so it stays to its home ports.

Posted by fugu13 (Member # 2859) on :

Good luck "subduing" a nuclear power (which Japan could be in a matter of months; they have some of the most advanced nuclear engineering capabilities in the world).

edit: this is, of course, viewed in a real world context [Wink]
