I discovered the other day that I should be able to watch tv on my computer.
I've got Giga Pocket installed but don't know how to use it. Their help function does nothing and their website is even worse. Is there something special I need to hook up to my computer or turn on? I've got RoadRunner, so the cable is hooked up to my modem. The program itself seems to work just fine, but the tv window shows nothing but black and, if I'm scanning the channels, some static.
Any ideas?

You don't need an antenna for cable tv. Why should I need it for this?

Do you normally have a TV signal? If all you have is RoadRunner service, TimeWarner generally installs an RF filter at the service box to filter out the TV signal and leave only the digital internet service signal on the line.

Right. Little rectangular thing sitting next to the tower with a cable coming out the back and "Cable Modem" written on the front. Do I have my terms mixed up?

The cable that's hooked up to your cable modem is not the cable you need hooked up for TV service. If you have cable TV service active in the house, you'll need to run one of those lines over to your computer, which must have a video in port on the back of it. And, apparently, must be a Sony Vaio brand computer.
Edit: Or split the cable into two separate lines before it enters the cable modem, and have the other line go to the video in jack, you don't have to run a line all the way from a different cable jack.

Well, "modem" is actually used incorrectly in that context, as it does not MOdulate/DEModulate anything, but it's the accepted term. I prefer the term "bridge."
Anyways. If it's plugged into the cable modem and not the computer, how is the Giga Pocket supposed to get any signal? You need to plug a COAX cable into the back of the computer for it to get a cable signal. Installing a splitter before the cable modem should do the trick.
