Sorry, I can't resist, being a 'Kraut' myself [Wink] :
It's "merkwürdige Liebe", because of the 'e' at the end. You pronounce the syllable 'ig' as 'ich', when it's the end of the word. For example in "Das ist merkwürdig." (="That's strange.") THEN you say "Das ist merkwürdich.")

There's no English word with the ü- sound, is there? It the sound between 'i' (as in 'fear') and 'u' ('your').

But don't worry: you can say 'seltsame' instead of 'merkwürdige', if you want to. [Wink] Dr. 'seltsame Liebe'

Lem, how come you started this threat and don't know that this is the german (or 'Kraut' [Wink] ) translation?

Pinky-

This might help:
General "Buck" Turgidson: Hmm... Strangelove? What kind of a name is that? That ain't no Kraut name is it, Stainesey?
Mr. Staines: He changed it when he became a citizen. Used to be Merkwürdigeliebe.
[the German word for "Strangelove"]
General "Buck" Turgidson: Well, a Kraut by any other name, uh Stainesey?

And, for the record, I made that joke first here and here. <edit> although I admit it's funnier here in light of the recent pronunciation threads </edit>
