No one would have believed in the first years of the twenty-first century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than martian’s and yet as mortal as his own; that as martians busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a martian with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water...

That's pretty cool. I wish the surface one though was actually in color instead of just black and white. I saw a really nice color map of Mars when I did a competition thing at NASA about Mars colonization. I may have to dig that up sometime as I'm sure it's with my paperwork from that somewhere.
