I found out a couple days ago that my brother's girlfriend's cousin, whom she was very close to, is in a coma.

She'd just given birth to her first child, and then had a stroke, and now has a 1% chance of ever waking up.

My brother's girlfriend is devastated, and is flying to Milwaukee to be with the rest of her family. My brother was supposed to go with her to help her, as she's an emotional wreck at the moment, but her mother told my brother that he really shouldn't go (this, after just having offered to pay for his plane ticket there), because he doesn't know the extended family well enough. Which strikes me as silly, since he was just going to be emotional support for his girlfriend, not to meet the family.

The family is already making plans for a funeral, but the husband of the woman in the coma is still in shock, and refuses to believe she is dead, and he has a new baby boy to deal with. All this, a week before Christmas, and is their first child.

Should they really be planning for a funeral so fast? Miracles can happen, but how long do you wait before you give up? How long do they give him to grieve?

For all of you that pray, pray for the her husband, already a single father and widower. And pray for her, as one way or another her fate will soon be decided.

So tragic, I have no words, but I'll pray.
