Dad still raves about the case of PayDay candy bars I gave him one year when I was a kid.

If dad still lives with mom, and they watch a lot of DVDs, then he's probably tired of watching chick flicks, and he's in need of some manly movies. And if it's a gift from you, mom has to let him watch it.

Anything from Harbor Freight will do, as will anything from the Craftsman tool department at Sears.

Other memorable gifts: digital compass, flatbed scanner, Photo/Paint software, Swiss Army knife, Leatherman tool, USB memory stick.

Can you give specific examples? Because for me at least, vague terms like digital compass only ensure that I will get the wrong kind of something my dad would like.

HOLY CRAP! that thing is awesome! I want one. Seriously... the description has it 100% accurate. "This is a geek's dream gadget brought to life"

Digital compass, so he never has to stop to ask directions.

A GPS with moving maps would be great too, but that's a bit spendy, even for dad.

Manly movies: Anything with Arnold Schwarzenegger, Clint Eastwood, Sylvester Stallone...

Yeah, that's pretty dang cool

Blacwolve, it's digital... and a compass... what else is there? I'm an analog guy myself! [Big Grin]
