by Sweden's Supreme Court. For those of you who don't remember, he is the Pentecostal minister convicted of hate speech in a sermon; it's the one referring to gays as a tumour on society. (You can probably find at least two places where I've translated the thing if you search the boards for "Åke Green" and "tumour".)

So it seems sweet brother does still have an independent court system; good for him. Let's hope the Riksdag takes the hint and overturns the law.

I wonder, though : Is this decision going to make it into the news hereabouts? There was quite a flap about the conviction in lower courts; I don't recall hearing about its being overturned in the middle court; and now the Supreme Court has upheld the acquittal. Is it still news when it doesn't stroke the prejudices of the religious right about Europe?

I think there's a shot I'll hear about it this afternoon on NPR going to work, but I probably won't see anything about it on any 24/7 TV news outlet, at least not if I didn't want to watch for an hour straight.

Hell, I've heard about Norweigen (I think, possibly Swedish) traffic ticket policies on NPR before-that story was pretty interesting, too.
