I was a regular poster here a long time ago; I suppose it's been about four years now. Yikes. Life gets crazy, you lose Internet access for a while, and suddenly you realize it's been years and you don't recognize most of the people on the forum. I suppose I *could* just comb the threads for people I recognize, but aliases change and, frankly, I'm lazy. I do recognize a few people. Who's still around that I'd remember? I'd love to re-acquaint myself with some of the wonderful people I used to know here. Long time no see!

To everyone I don't yet know, hallo! I look forward to becoming acquainted.

Yank-
Weren't you on a mission?

Nice to see you again. [Smile]

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Well, yes, but I returned about a year and a half ago, posted briefly from the public library, and then got heavily involved in the Proverbial Vicissitudes of Life. I haven't really been seen since. *grin*

And thank you! It's good to see you again as well.

Welcome back to us, Yank! I hope your life is going well. [Smile]

Posted by Belle (Member # 2314) on :

Hi yank! I remember you. How are things?

Posted by LadyDove (Member # 3000) on :

Ah yes, the pull of the Vicissitudes. They are jealous little, sticky tendrils. Once they've found you, they never quite let you go.

I hope they at least give you time off so that you can visit Hatrack more often.

You know, I was actually thinking about you the other day. Someone that had actually said goodby, did a mission, then came back, then disappeared. I couldn't remember your name, but it was definitely you I was thinking of. Welcome back.

Posted by katharina (Member # 827) on :

Hi, Yank. [Smile] Sorry I was such a lousy Hatrack provider while you were gone. Zevlag and Hobbes are suffering that right now.

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

katharina: You were *not* lousy, *I* was a lousy correspondent.

I'm working Tech Support now, so between calls and emails I have a lot more time to troll the Internet in all its ridiculousness. Things are going well, if not how I planned, but that's life. I'm also in an apprenticeship for Martial Arts teaching now, having taken up Shaolin Chuan'fa (a Kempo/Kung-fu style) right off my mission. So, very busy but busy doing things I enjoy doing.

Yank!

Yay!! Welcome back, Yank! I didn't remember that you were back from your mission, but that makes sense, as it seems like a LONG time ago that you left.

Posted by Anna (Member # 2582) on :

I remember you, not sure you do me.

Hiya, Yank, nice to see you. [Wave]

Welcome back. [Smile]

I remember you, but I don't think you'd remember me [Smile]

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Actually, I remember every one of you saying, "I don't think you'd remember me." It's good to see y'all again!

Posted by Jhai (Member # 5633) on :

I lurked at that time, but didn't post.

Welcome back anyways! [Smile]

You're yanking my chain.

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Where did the Pun Police go? We've got a serious violation of the Bad Pun Statute here. *grin*

I remember you! Wow 4 years! That's insane.
It's good to see you again!

Hey Yank!

*head explodes*

Posted by David Bowles (Member # 1021) on :

Hey... I've been away for a while, too. Good to see you.

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

I bet you don't remember me, Yank!

Edit:

This is a new name, but I bet you can't remember who I was! [Wink]

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Well, of course I can't remember who you were if your name has changed. It's not like I have faces to go on, or that your post gives me any clues.

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

You wouldn't remember who I was. I tricked you. *happy dance* I apologize. I actually didn't have a name before this, and you are new to me.

You seem like a neat-o person. Would you mind ignoring my cruel joke and letting me get to know you slightly better?

You say that because you want him to.

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Bah, cruel joke, shmuel joke. *grin* If that's your idea of a cruel joke, you need to go to Boy Scout Camp. Or live in my last apartment.

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

I've been to Boy Scout Camp for the past four years, thank you very much. And I've camped over my birthday each time, to boot.

Posted by advice for robots (Member # 2544) on :

I remember you, Yank, and I remember when you posted just after your mission. Has it seriously been a year and a half since then?!

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Ah, Scout Camp- the memories, the axes, knives and other sharp objects, the guns, the pyromania (Scout water!), the cows streaming in from an adjacent cattle ranch, the sheer number of 12-year-old human males....

It's a wonder any of us survived to post about it.

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Yep, it's been a year and a half. Can't believe it either.

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

I just remember one of my friends and I decided to cremate these frogs we found that were dead. We got in huge trouble for that...

Haha. I was going to ask him if he'd cleaned up any exploding heads lately. [Razz]

Posted by Yank (Member # 2514) on :

Nope, I'm more or less out of the janitorial business. Besides, grey matter is corrosive stuff; did you know the Old West trappers used beaver brains to cure their hides?

Posted by Bob_Scopatz (Member # 1227) on :

Howdy Yank.

Beaver brains -- wow! So, without all those beavers sitting around thinking healthy thoughts, we'd have had a bunch of trappers in the old west suffering from acne, boils and leprosy?

Fascinating stuff.

[Razz]

Posted by Papa Moose (Member # 1992) on :

Well, since you've been gone, I've kinda gotten into the janitorial business myself....

Posted by Belle (Member # 2314) on :

And I got cancer!

Which actually sucks, as opposed to Papa Moose's change which was a good thing.

But lots of good things have happened since you've been gone. Weddings, babies born, stories published. All sort of coolness.

You know Shmuel? I'd have thought he was since your time.

I haven't been here 4 years yet, but I do remember your too-short posting flurry a year and a half ago. Welcome back! [Smile]

You have been gone a long time, haven't you? The Bad Pun Mafia runs this town now. Sad but true.

Posted by Miro (Member # 1178) on :

Welcome back. Things around here certainly have changed over the past 4 years.

I think I remember you, but I'm not sure. My memory doesn't always cooperate when I want it to.

I remember you.

I don't know if you remember me Yank, but I remember you... I've been here about three years, so I'm not sure why it is that I know you... anyway, welcome back!! [Smile]

I guess I am from after your time . . .

Nope. And I think I could've gone through my life entirely happy about not knowing that.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

A little out of line, don'tcha think Jon?

Posted by Jonathan K. (Member # 7720) on :

it was directed at pH since he said he loved Vin

Posted by Papa Janitor (Member # 7795) on :

pH is a she, though that fact has nothing to do with your post being out of line.

Posted by Kwea (Member # 2199) on :

I figured it was directed at her, but it was still in very poor taste. SOme of them were funny, but the others just igoranly crude.
