AWESOME article from NPR and their "This I Believe" show.
About being gay in a repressive religious situation and coming out after a long time in the closet.

Along those lines, the cover story on Time Magazine this week is about gay teens. Those interested might want to give it a look.

I heard that when it aired on NPR. It struck me that our stories are so very similar and yet he and I have come to fundamentally different conclusions.

That's really beautiful. It actually reminds me of what our own JohnKeats went through, basically right in front of our eyes. I miss him. *sniffle* My wayward cyber-son, he doesn't call, he doesn't write...

*blows nose loudly, in the guilt-inducing fashion of motherhood*

Beautifully written. I'm so glad he was able to escape from the view of a hateful God.

KarlEd...you said your conclusions are different... how so? That he remained religious and you did not? I went through much of the same thing...and while I left religion by the wayside was part of being gay it wasn't the only factor. Philosophy and science made it obvious to me that religion wasn't the Truth about the Universe.
