The protest was amazing and it was so huge that I only got to experience the fringes of it. The organizers planned for 100,000 and I think it's pretty safe to say that more than 300,000 showed up. I would not be surprised if it were 500,000.

The march itself started at 12:30. Folks were still starting to march at 4:30. And there were folks lining the route the whole way. There were plenty of places along the route to buy buttons, t-shirts, etc. because nothing is more American than protesting and shopping at the same time!

The diversity was fantastic. I saw people with walkers and children in strollers, veterans and Quakers, "Billionaires for Bush" and "Raging Grannies". Two of my favorite pictures (I have no idea how to share these picture with you) were two Franciscan monks in robes talking to a Marine in full dress uniform, and a WWII vet in a wheelchair talking to a group of children.

It was a very inspiring and hopeful experience - well worth the sore feet from standing and walking all day and the sore back from sleeping on the bus for two nights.
