I am a smoker. I went a job interview and they told me they do not allow their employees to smoke. Crazy eh? Well it is a good job and I will quit for the job, at least while on duty.

However they claim to be able to test for "nicotine abuse", a quick search on the google found that such tests exist. However, what I can't find is how long nicotine stays in your system.

Anyone know?

However, it is possible for the nicotine level in a smoker's urine to be low enough to escape detection. In fact, the American Lung Association says that nicotine disappears from your blood stream and your urine within 72 hours after smoking your last cigarette.
From here.

Though there were a few conflicting reports that said some people test positive even more than 72 hours after their last exposure to nicotine.
