I was already in bed last night when my daughter started issuing a high pitched keening noise from downstairs. She came bolting into our bedroom in a tizzy. It seems that some sort of large bug had gained entrance to the house when she was putting the dogs outside. She had no clue what type of bug it might be. Her only description was, "It's one of those HUGE things". We went downstairs to hunt down the intruder but couldn't find it. Anna then turned on the ceiling fan and a loud buzzing noise as well as some scraping sounds issued from within the ceiling fan. I've just spend the last 45 minutes taking down the light and blades as well as disconnecting the electrical connections and taking down the motor assembly. In other words, I had to completely uninstall the fan in order to turn the motor assembly upside down and shake the locust to the top side of the fan and remove it from the motor assembly. What a fun morning!

Edited for clarity.

[ROFL] I'm sorry, but that is too funny. I hope your day starts to get better.

Oh no! A minor plague of locusts AND a minor plague of darkness!
