In my head. I've lived with dandruff for the last 5 years of my life and I feel like winning the war on it now. I can't stand it anymore. Head & Shoulders didn't do the trick for me even when I used it exactly like the bottle told me to. I want my dandruff to die, although I know its a whole bunch of dead cells... Anyhoot how can I accomplish this? Any suggestions? Experiences you'd like to share? Anything?

Neutrogena T-Sal. They sell it at Target. Good stuff. Much stronger than H&S. And it doesn't even smell any more!

Dandruff is often caused by scalp fungus. Nizoral shampoo (formerly prescription only) may just do the trick.
Also doesn't stink.

T-Sal is in the shampoo aisle. Since Drugstore.com has it for $6.89, I'd expect Target would have it for a little less than that. If that clears it up for you, you can then start using slightly milder T-Gel for daily maintainence.

You may not have scalp fungi. Dandruff runs in my family because of our oily scalps and dry hair type. My daughter has eczema and cradle cap, and I did too. I periodically get seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp and neck, which is cradle cap in babies and which causes dandruff, even as an adult. It's a nuisance, but I've learned to live with it. If that's what you have, T-Sal for a couple of days will probably clear it right up. Did you have cradle cap or eczema as a baby?

If you have dry hair, you'll also want to follow up with T-Gel conditioner. The shampoo is great on the scalp, but can leave your hair really dry, and using medicated conditioner as well will make sure you don't lessen the effects of the shampoo. Posted by mackillian (Member # 586) on :

I don't have a hair stylist, I just moved in to another distric of my city and am still getting to know the area. I'll try using the conditioner as well but until next month when I get my paycheck because I don't want another moth invasion in my wallet. ^.^;; For moisturizing I'll try buying some almond oil.

I used Selsun Blue and something else (it was sort of black or brown looking and smelled kind of like tar) for my dandruff back in middle school. I used them for probably a year or so (varied between them). It must have worked (or at least helped), because I only use Head and Shoulders now and I don't have dandruff.

Neutrogena T-Gel is brown/black and smells refreshingly like a newly-paved road. Hubby uses it. This is one reason that the smell of newly-paved roads is such a turn-on for me.

T-gel doesn't smell strongly like tar to me. And I'd call it amber, not brown. But you could be right.

I think it was T-gel. That name sounds familiar enough. When I got it, it was a fairly dark brown, although I guess if you had some of it sort of clinging to the sides it might appear lighter brown or amber. Yeah, and it does smell like a newly-paved road like Tante said. I'm glad I don't use it anymore. I didn't like the smell of the stuff, or the look and feel for that matter.
