not anything really important

but today is my eighteenth

I know most of everyone here looks back at eighteen as a very young age

true that

but to me...
right now it's as far as I've gotten

I feel as if eighteen is a pretty big milestone in America

all of a sudden I find myself with much more freedom

sure that may only be limited to lottery tickets, pornography, and tobacco based products

but that seems like a lot to a young'n of eighteen years

I don't know what the meaning of this posting is

I guess I feel as if I've reached a pretty high point in my personal life

...I dunno

just felt like typing

here's to another year *cheers*

Happy Birthday! Congratulations on reaching your age of majority. Enjoy voting! And if I may offer some unsolicited birthday advice, stick with the lottery tickets and porn, skip the tobacco. [Smile]

Happy Birthday, remember to register for Selective Services!

Oh yea, you can now buy rifles and shotguns!

Have fun with the porno, voting, tobaco, longarms, signing legal documents, no curfew (sp) and signing up for the draft!

(delayed responses...I've been without internet for a while)

well...I'm atleast 73% positive that you're not my mother

wish him a late happy birthday for me

You don't have to register until you graduate from HS unless you don't graduate or drop out. They usually remind graduating seniors to register and you can do it at the school.

And you don't have to register if you're female, I believe.

I don't know that you have to do anything to be registered for selective service.

The same week my son turned 18 - they just mailed him a selective service card in the mail. THEY knew he turned 18 -- whoever "they" is. He didn't sign up anywhere that I know of.

When I was in HS, they made an announcement at the end of the school year each year that all males who had turned 18 that year needed to stop by the office to register. [Dont Know]

if you've visted with any military recruiters at all

(which I have done)

you're already registered and when you turn eighteen they send you the card

I do belive that's the case anyhow

yeah, my brother got the Selective Services info a week or so before his 18th. I think maybe "they" get the information from Social Security, or possibly the schools, because Steve didn't have a drivers license yet.
