I want to try something, if y'all would be kind enough to help. Find the nearest clock or watch that has not been recently set by the atomic clock. Then go to http://time.gov . Figure out, to the nearest minute, how far off your clock is from standard. Then post the result. For example, if it's 5:35 and your clock says 5:33, post -2. Or if your clock says 5:37, post +2. If it's right on, post 0.

If I get enough results, I want to see if it'll make a bell-shaped curve (with, most likely, a very small standard deviation).

Yes, it's slow at work and I'm bored. [Smile]

-30 seconds

so I guess that would be -.5

0.

Added: If I was at home, that would be way different. I keep my clocks at least 15 minutes fast.

I forgot to post one for myself.

+3

But that's the work clock. I had to disqualify my watch because I remembered I set it to standard a couple days ago.

Computer is fast by 2 seconds, or -0.033 (repeating).

My cell phone is set by satelite, and is exact to within one second. Its also set by GPS, and is exact for the timezone down to the foot (or at the very most, a couple feet). I had it out when I crossed time zones on my cross country trip [Smile] .

computer: + 3 min

(But I always set my clocks a few minutes fast. So does this invalidate the statistical study if used?)

-1 at home.

And I can tel lyou right now that the telephones at work are +3 or +4 and the computers are +7. That creates occasional problems in fact, because I have to take the mail down with me and I leave when the server says 5:00 (which means I'm really leaving at 4:53) but the bosses don't understand the time issues involved in getting the mail to the dropoff before 5:00.

How is the experiment coming so far anyways?

-15 seconds on clock next to me.

Odd, normally I actually have my clock set 15 minutes fast... might as well do that now.

(Good way to make me get up in the morning. My mind is already grogy, I can't remember that it's set ahead, so I make sure I get up on time.)

My parent's computer is +2.

It really confused me when I posted to Hatrack at 9.20 and the time came up as 9.18. I think I'm going to have to fix this clock.

You know you must post the results here for everyone who participated to see. Has it turned out to be a nice bell curve?
