Yes. I didn't know where it was in the series, as we came in about 15 minutes late. I did love the "respectable party" line.

2md episode made, 1st episode originally shown. Served as a kind of replacement pilot, so mostly what you missed what the slightly forced exposition that was stuck in to explain everybody.

Ahhhh ...
It did seem early on, although there was a bit of weird overlap with the feel of week before last's (original episode 1). Thanks, Chris. I'd missed last week's airing, as I was at a delightful supper at Tom & Christy's with their friend from Germany. Tom made roast pork, we had fresh-cooked bread and fruits, and I made a coconut cream pie with far too much freshly whipped cream.
I suffer. I truly do.

I watched it, but it comes on at a very bad time for me - suppertime. So I don't get to watch the whole thing uninterrupted. I wish they replayed it later like they replay everything else on Fridays.
I liked the way it ended. With the sheriff, that is. I don't understand the other ending - are the dudes with blue hands the one River was singing nonsense songs about? I didn't really hear her very well.

Elements of The Train Job come back later in the episodes Ariel and War Stories, but you should be able to still fully enjoy those episodes without having seen it.

I love to hate Niska. There's something exceptionally creepy about a cheerful, wee old man who tortures people.
Crow's big finish is one of my favorite moments of the entire show, even though "The Train Job" itself is one of the weaker episodes.

*Bump for a question* Anyone read the Firefly comics? How are they? I've only seen The Pilot of the tv show, so should I wait until I've seen the entire series, which will take forever, before I read it?

I haven't read the comics, but my understanding is that they serve as a bridge between the events of the final episode of the TV show and the beginning of the events of the movie. Given that, I'd wait if I were you.
It really won't take you all that long to make it through the show, by the way. There are only 14 episodes, and they're good enough that any plans you have to pace yourself in watching them are doomed to failure.

True. And any thoughts you had about only watching them one time through....well. That's just silly.
I'm watching them through with a good friend of mine. He's totally hooked and we're trying to cram them in before he gets married and leaves town this Friday. We watched 4 episodes in one sitting last night and we plan to watch the last 4 on Tuesday night. This is about my 4th time through the whole series and I've owned the DVDs for a month.
Jaime, once you've seen the pilot, you can pretty much watch any of the episodes in any order. I'd recommend watching as many as you can before the movie, it really doesn't take that long.

Watch the shows before you read the comics, there are plot elements you really won't understand if you go the other way.
You don't need to have seen any of them to follow the movie, but it helps.

I know, it's really driving me crazy that I can only watch 1 episode a week. I so want to watch them all already. But I can't afford the DVD and Blockbuster doesn't stock it. I don't know what else I can do. I've only seen the first two hours of Firefly, which is supposedly the worst episode, and I'm crazy about it...

And of course you could always check with your public library. If they don't have it you can probably request it through interlibrary loan.
I strongly disagree that the episodes can be watched in any order without the viewer losing something. Character relationships change, recurring characters are introduced, references are made to things that happened earlier in the show...honestly Narnia I don't know why you'd think that.
I mean (and forgive me if I'm vague, but I'm trying to avoid spoilers here), how much less surprising and interesting would Our Mrs. Reynolds be if you'd already seen Trash? If Heart of Gold were one of the earliest episodes you saw, wouldn't that completely color your view of the interactions of two of the primary characters? And if you saw post Ariel episodes before watching Ariel, the same would be true with other primary characters.

Do the two-week free trial, and rent only the Firefly DVDs. You could get through them easily in that time. Just don't forget to cancel the subscription before the two weeks is up.
