I've recieved a lot of emails in my junk inbox for companies who would pay you for taking surveys. So are there actually ones that actually pay you for doing a survey? Ones that don't require any payment to start? Anyone know?

I was looking at a bunch of those a few years ago when I was in a lousy job and never found any that didn't require some sort of payment to start. Doesn't mean there aren't any, but I sort of doubt it.

There are a few. I signed up for a bunch when I wasn't working. However, for most of them it's either only some respondents who get paid (and even then not a lot), or you get paid $1 (or less) for surveys that take 20-30 minutes to complete.
I gave up on them a while back.
However, if you're interested in free stuff, I recommend becoming a BzzzAgent.
