My parents are selling the house that they've lived in for the past 19 years and moving. I am kind of sad. Everything that happened in my life from the time I was 6 years old until I was 19 happened in this house. They've listed it with a local realtor who has posted a virtual tour of it on his web page.
They've completely remodeled the house and it looks absolutely nothing like it did when I lived there. But it's still sad. Click here to see my childhood home.

edit: An interesting side note. My parents bought this house for $70,000 in 1986. It has been listed for $240,000. Amazing what remodeling can do to the value of a home.

I sort of went through this, I kind of wanted to make a documentary about the house before we sold it. But I didn't. It managed to stay in the family a few more years, but now it's been sold to someone who will tear it down and build 3 houses on the land. [Frown]

My parents are going to put their house (where I grew up) on the market in April or May. I'm a little sad, but overall it'll be good for them (the house is way too large for just two people, now that my sister and I have moved out).

I have always been very attached to houses. I feel for you. I believe that people seep into houses, and into land.

Not as amazing as what 20 years and a seller's market will do. [Razz]

That's a beautiful house. What part of the country is it in? It reminds me of when I lived on the South Carolina/North Carolina/Georgia border.

$240,000. Four bedrooms, and a studio. And a huge yard.

Surprisinly enough, it's in that area. Hendersonville, NC.

Honestly, you'd never know. You can't see it from the highway. (It's right off of Highway 64. So if you have ever driven from Etowah to Hendersonville on Highway 64, you've driven past it).

Wow. I love the living room and studio...and that huge yard! I miss the days when beautiful houses were built an a large lot of land and there was actually more than 6 feet between your house and your neigbor's. Or maybe that's just how it is in Oregon.
