You know what's irritating? When we track books, they never show any of the in-between stations. Just departure, then "out for delivery". [Roll Eyes] Annoying.

Gah, I actually know why this is (in most cases), thanks to working somewhere that gives out UPS tracking numbers on our products. If you have a UPS tracking number that doesn't show anything until suddenly it's out for delivery, check the "show details" link on their tracking page. Odds are the first scan is at a hub near you, instead of a pickup scan, hub scan, transit scan(s), hub scan, out for delivery.

This is called Zone Skipping. You live in Texas, right? If the book company has a lot of orders going to texas, they have the option to ship them on a truck of their own (or a contracted one) to the Dallas UPS hub instead of having UPS pick it up from the original source. It saves money on bulk shipping, but makes the package untrackable until it gets to that hub.
