Mysterious 'Kryptos' sculpture challenges CIA employees So….. we have the world’s smartest people here at Hatrack. I bet this can be solved here in a matter of hours. The Story behind “Kryptos” When you look at the letters you notice that the “E” is missing from the first row. Wonder if that is significant? Then in the rows when you follow the alphabet to “E” there is “E T O S” – E to S. Another link Interesting.....

Yeah, there's one behind the Hirshorn Museum. I'm pretty sure that either you or KarlEd has some photos of it from your trip last year.
The one in the photo in Jay's first link definitely is not by the Hirshorn, though. I wonder how many there are total and if there are any substantial differences between them?

But they said that parts of the puzzle are scattered across CIA headquarters and those peices are not at the mall.

Tom you might be onto to something there! It’s a sarcophagus which will close in once you decipher the proper code words. Now what does it do once it closes……

Okay, so there's the decoded bits. (k1-3) then there's the bit that isn't decoded (k4). But then there's also what they seem to call a "subtext"- something below the apparant first decoding?
k1 is a short message about the absence of light.
k2 points to the CIA building at Langley itself, probably the location of the sculpture. It seems to actually talk about the code on the statue too.
k3 is the journal entry of Howard Carter about entering Tutankhanmun's tomb.
So is there "another" message or this all?
EDIT: It appears there is. Also: I'd love to see this sculpture at night with a flashlight. If I were one of those CIA people, that's something I'd try.
