My kids are in a church play that is based on baseball "The Sermon on the Mound" Cheesy, stupid, I know - I didn't select it. But my daughter is the lead character and needs a baseball uniform and there is nothing in the local sports shops we can use and we have no time to special order a "blank" jersey - everything we can get has some team name or mascot already on it, and that won't work.

I've looked at all the "big 4" pattern makers and I'm not finding exactly what I need. If anybody has any clue whatsoever please let me know....I'm starting to get desperate - my last resort is to take a pattern that's close and alter it to what I need and that is a scary proposition to me.

I need something like this, but without the team name or emblem on it.

Hey -- we did that play last year at our church! It was great! have fun with it!

(we just asked church members who might have old uniforms to let us use them, if I remember right. But I can find out for sure, since I wasn't in charge of that part of it)

Ach, never mind. I'll delete this in a minute.

I just found something in a Butterick pattern that should work, now I just need to go get it.

Farmgirl, it's a cute play, I'm just a little sick of all the songs by now. Two of my girls have solos so we're practicing constantly.

I sort of remember one in an old Simplicity halloween book, but I'm guessing it's been discontinued. I have no clue what to do, maybe find out if anyone you know has a little league boy or whatever you could borrow the costume from.

Which parts are they playing?

Belle, I'm looking through pattern sites online and not finding anything so far, but one thing you could do is get a pattern for a top from scrubs with buttons. If you get a good pattern, you could make it look like a baseball jersey, with the right piping.

edit: ...heh...too slow.

Natalie is the "little rookie" Mac Wire - we changed her name to Mac, short for Mackenzie.

Emily doesn't have any speaking parts, but she sings two of the little solos in the last song.

We have a (cassette) tape of the production of It's Cool in the Furnace my sisters were in in 1979. We used to listen to it all the time as kids. I wish our church did more of this kind of stuff sometimes. [Smile]
