Ok, we had a thread a few weeks ago to find both Papa Moose and Boon's husband a laptop...which was funny, because I was about to start a thread asking the same question for myself, the same day that thread was made.

So I figured I would wait a bit to see if I really need one for my new job selling mortgages.

Guess what...while it isn't a complete necessity, it would make the job a lot easier.

So, does anyone have a laptop that they are looking to either get rid of or sell fairly cheap? I am not in a huge rush to get one, and so I thought I would ask here first.

It doesn't have to have a huge hard drive, basically I need it to run Excel and Word, and to be able to surf the net to the web sites of the banks we use to look up rate plans and program details. Wireless would be great, but not a priority, although it would be a great option to upgrade to.

Thanks!

Rob

I never did get a laptop. Oh well. I have a couple months before I leave for Uganda.

Laptops... A curse.

Sorry, can't help you.

I guess most people don't want to get rid of a laptop that is worth having. In my case, it's more the case that the compaq Pentium (1) in question pretty much belongs to my husband.

Hmmmm, I wonder if Boon ever got the laptop I sent her...

Don't get me wrong...while I would LOVE a "donation", that isn't really what this is about. I would be willing to buy one, if anyone has an old one kicking around. My standards for "good enough" are fairly low, aas long as it can run Word and Excel.

If not, there are some shops around here that sell them fairly cheap, but I would rather give my money to someone I know, even slightly, than a stranger.

I have a friend who is constantly tinkering with older electronics. Let me ask and see what he might have around at the moment. (IIRC the prior thread was looking for a machine old enough where I doubted Bill would have one and I skipped over the thread on later visits so I never saw Papa's request)
