Flipped through this the other day.

If the film itself is only _half_ as imaginative and entertaining, this will be great.

The Dave McKean art alone makes it worth a look.

And yes...for those who were wondering...like "Labyrinth" there will be at least ONE "music video" sequence.

A very interesting thing that comes out in Gaiman's notes...for a low budget film like this, a lot of the reality-based live action stuff was too costly and complicated compared to the special effects!

"Can we have a scene set in her school?"

"Oh, no! We can't! We'd have to build the set, cast a teacher, hire of bunch of extras to play the other students...why can't we just have a scene where the entire world crumples up like a paper ball? That would cost next to nothing!"

I am really looking forward to this movie!
The ballroom scene in Labyrinth gave me an enduring obsession with masks.
Labyrinth = the defining movie of my childhood.

Man, how big is that going to come out? Because if it's only in LA and New York, it's clobberin' time.

According to Neil Gaiman on his website, the film will probably released in September, probably wide release.

This is all tentative. They're still making up their minds.

Eeep.

Gaiman stated on his blog that due to the strangeness of going back to press on large, hardcover illustrated books...that by the time the film comes out, it may be difficult to find the scriptbook in bookstores, if at all.

Could this be the most awkward tie-in release of all time?
