While being deprived of Hatrack for so long was torturous, I love many of the new features.

But my absolute favorite is that the time is adjustable. Thanks again, moderator-type people! [Smile] [Hail]

What's your favorite new feature?

This quick reply stuff is pretty neato.

Case in point.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Indeed. [Smile] I also like the added options on the My Profile page.

Oh, I love the adjustable time! Since I am in Indiana without DST, the Hatrack time is correct half the year, and off an hour the other half the year. So annoying.

But not anymore!

And I hate the quick reply. It takes up too much screen room at the bottom. But you can disable it on the profile so now it won't bother me at all.

Quick reply and quoting people are my faves.

Quick reply is my favorite thus far.

I don't even know what the other changes are.

Hey, I didn't know about the adjustable time! *leaves to check it out*

Did anyone else notice there's a new janitor?

New to you perhaps! [Big Grin]

Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :

Um, a while ago, yes. [Big Grin]

New features - your own preferred date format. Out of a very short list of possibles. I, personally, would prefer 11 May 2005, for example, but instead, my closest choice is 11 May, 2005, which is just wrong.

<laughs> Okay, I'm not really a hatracker anymore so I don't know these things. Who is it?

What?????? Not a hatracker anymore?????? What did you do to lose your status?

Posted by Tatiana (Member # 6776) on :

Wow, cool! So what's all this about rataquenhos? Is it Portuguenglish? I'm so behind!

Posted by Tatiana (Member # 6776) on :

Oh I just left. I'm not really here anymore. [Smile]

Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :

Nah, see, it doesn't work that way.

Eh. What do I know? Maybe it does.

[Dont Know]

I actually am pretty bummed that you can no longer tell if a post has been edited or not.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

If you edit more than -- what, 30 minutes? an hour? -- after you post, the edit tags do show up.

(testing edit tags)

*amused* While post times reflect chosen time settings, edit tags and the Recent Posts lists do not.

Posted by Portabello (Member # 7710) on :

I just tried to edit a post I made earlier today.

It wouldn't let me.

I'm disturbed that I am unable to edit my own posts.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

*nod* 90 minutes isn't a very long time.

Especially with my cable internet as flaky as it has been lately. Combine with RL distractions, and it's very easy to be AFK for over 90 minutes. Only to get back and discover that the last thing you posted is uneditable.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Ok, it's less than 13 minutes, but more than 7, after the initial post that the edit tags start showing up. So probably 10.

(testing)

I've always been a fan of the quick reply at other boards...I was very glad to see it here.

Quick reply? What is quick reply?

Never mind, found it!

[Wink]

I kind of like that you don't see that the posts are edited...

Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :

If it's edited in the first ten minutes, apparently. After that, yup, evidently, ya do.

Posted by Lupus (Member # 6516) on :

if only real life was like that. Sometimes it would be nice to have a few seconds after speaking to edit what was just said. [Smile]

well anyway...I'm off to bed now (it is 5:07am where I am)

Oooh! shiny!

New Features! I like the Quick Reply, so you don't forget what you were replying to!

IMO, once you make a post, it is no longer "your own post." It isn't your property anymore and you aren't entitled to any special rights over it.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Hmm. That's an interesting perspective.

I think that makes you a forum communist. [Wink]

I disagree. And I think this may be why Wikipedia creeps you out. [Smile]

Posted by twinky (Member # 693) on :

Well, you've put your words into the public domain. If I post a short story here, I wouldn't expect to be able to get paid for publishing it in an anthology or something later.

Paul Goldener is the forum communist. [Smile] I'm a mere social democrat.

Okay, that "all topics started by" feature officially has a dark side. I want to go back and update everything, so I'm bumping all my own threads. [Razz]

That could very well be. It makes sense.

Yay for passive/aggresive guilt trips or whatever it is that Tatiana is doing in an attempt to make us feel bad for being mean to newbies.

no vampires here. [Smile]

The fun of being in the time between my masters defense and the start of my new job. Lots of free time...and lots of staying up late and sleeping late. [Smile]

Though, that will change on June 1st.

Posted by Annie (Member # 295) on :

PC, no one has the power to give you a guilt trip unless you're willing to go along with it.

Posted by Kayla (Member # 2403) on :

I like that they think I'm so stupid I can't figure out how to change my time. Cause I couldn't till I realized that they were telling me to put in -1 hour.

Now, if I could just figure out how to get rid of the quick reply. I thought I did that, but it's still there.

Ooh, did nothing and it's gone!
