I randomly went out shooting (photos) this morning and edited them and put 'em up on my gallery. Double checking stuff, I noticed that these two pictures are next to each other:

Merrimack 1

Merrimack 2

And I thought how cool that was, those two pictures together. The powerful looking American flag and the ever-present graffiti scribbled onto the granite.

Very nice photos. I especially like the second link. Are you using film? What were your camera settings? Did you pack lighting?

Cool pictures. I, too am interested in the specifics about the shots. I have some questions about caring for my camera. Should I ask those here, or at madowl?

I'm using a Canon EOS Digital Rebel (300D). The second pic was taken at 1/250, f9.1, ISO 200.

I didn't pack any lighting. I was out this morning between 9 and 9:30 down at the river, so the light was pretty good all on its own.

I have a Pentax K1000. What's the best way to clean the inside of the body. Is it ok to use canned air? The camera is over 20 years old, so I'm wondering if I should take it in for for a check up.

Thanks for the help.

Cameras that old are usually some hardy beasts. However, I'd take it into a pro camera place for them to tidy up. Canned air IS what's normally used to clean them out, but there might be other stuff going on in there. Is it giving you problems? Dust or anything on the mirrors?

No problems. I just figured it might be time to get it checked out. The only thing wrong with it is that the little crank is missing off the film rewinder. I've never had it checked out in the 20 plus years I've had it. Do you have an idea of what it would cost me to get it checked out?

No idea. But the guys at the shops are normally pretty cool about giving you a price up front.

[Cool] Thanks for the information. One thing I like about this camera is that everything's manual. There's not even an auto focus.

I have another question. Can you recommend some good web sites or books for someone interested in making a living as a photographer?

Monster Rules?

Um...I'm not sure. I just started my own making a living at this and there's so much I've read...
