The present administration has been far from shy about designating information as "Top Secret".

There has been so much done, from Energy Policy meetings to secret arrests that I have not been allowed to know about.

I don't know why.

I have never abused information, trading it to the enemy or selling it on the open market.

I have never even threatened the life of any elected official.

Still, they assume my guilt and refuse to let me have access to troop deployment plans, NORAD missle launch codes, or the guest list at Vice President Cheney's Energy Summit.

On the other hand, with an increased awareness of the dangers in the world, and the War On Terrorism, this administration is fighting to be allowed to gather as much information about me as possible. The Patriot Act is full of useful bits of law that would allow the federal government access to my information. The Airlines are supposed to share my personal data with Homeland Security, the video store is supposed to hand over my viewing history, the Feds can search my house for incrimanating evidence, and not tell me about it until some vague time in the future.

And there are more infringements on my information happening all the time.

Personal Information is extremely important to the financial well being of me and my family. It could even be important to our physical well being.

I doubt the government would use that information in ways to harm me, but people within the government might. Social Security Numbers, Credit Card Numbers, passwords and ID's are all vulnerable to the nameless people who will do the searching.

I hereby declare all of my personal information TOP SECRET.

It is FOR MY EYES ONLY.

I'll stay out of Area 51 if they'll stay out of my house.

How are you going to keep it secret?

The Government just Declares it and suddenly its hands off. I figure I'll do the same.

A few years ago we were able to access all sorts of great stuff on NASA's website. We could get specs for the plasma engine they were working on, and great info on advanced life support.

But when private industries started talking about stepping into the arena, the access went away.

And that was just to stop industrial espionage.
