Zeugma, are you out there?

Even though I could email you about this, I feel that you need to be brought forth as real, and that your beautiful town deserves its own thread.

Our plans have changed, due to the fact that we cannot get the kids into the Rongo. Grrr.

So, we are going out to visit a friend in Syracuse Saturday, and coming out to the Ramada on Sunday. These are the possibilities for meeting:

1. At the hotel Sunday, at the pool or in the room, or at the award-winning brunch which, I think, goes until 2.
2. At Maxie's for Crow Greenspun. Their menu looks great and kind of cheap(at least not as pricey as I thought)This would be a way for you to FINALLY check out the fabulous music in your town, where we have talked about moving to just because of the music.
3. Monday morning for breakfast. I know you work, but I could meet you early for breakfast, or even for an early lunch before we leave.

Thank you, Narnia. Now where is that Zeugma?
i will take this time to post one of my favorite poems:

Ithaka
C.P.Cavafy

As you set out for Ithaka
hope your road is a long one,
full of adventure, full of discovery.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
angry Poseidon-don't be afraid of them:
you'll never find things like that on your way
as long as you keep your thoughts raised high,
as long as a rare excitement
stirs your spirit and your body.
Laistrygonians, Cyclops,
wild Poseidon-you won't encounter them
unless you bring them along inside your soul,
unless your soul sets them up in front of you.

Hope your road is a long one.
May there be many summer mornings when,
with what pleasure, what joy,
you enter harbors you're seeing for the first time;
may you stop at Phoenician trading stations
to buy fine things,
mother of pearl and coral, amber and ebony,
sensual perfume of every kind-
as many sensual perfumes as you can;
and may you visit many Egyptian cities
to learn and go on learning from their scholars.

Keep Ithaka always in your mind.
Arriving there is what you're destined for.
But don't hurry the journey at all.
Better if it lasts for years,
so you're old by the time you reach the island,
wealthy with all you've gained on the way,
not expecting Ithaka to make you rich.
Ithaka gave you the marvelous journey.
Without her you wouldn't have set out.
She has nothing left to give you now.

And if you find her poor, Ithaka won't have fooled you.
Wise as you will have become, so full of experience,
you'll have understood by then what these Ithakas mean.

Hello!

Well, this is probably for the better, since both Mark and I came down with a pretty nasty stomach flu bug this week, and we're still not 100% yet. Plus the poor pup is taking a while to get back on her feet after Monday's spay surgery. So we're not in great shape at home. [Razz]

I should be feeling better by this weekend, though, so I'm sure we can find something to do! Are you staying out by the airport/mall? Brunch might be an option... and are you still interested in checking out the ScienceCenter?

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Zeugma, I think we are staying at the ramad, but not near the airport. (I am not sure anymore, except that they have this award-winning brunch.)

I think, unless we come into Ithaca earlier on Sunday(unlikely because my husband will be with us and he is an AM slug), the only time we could probably do it would be Monday morning, and I know you have to work.

We are 95% certain we are coming out to Donna the Buffalo/Crow Greenspun/Trevor McDonaldfest on Friday.

Zeugma?
Kojabu?

Will you be around?

We will have to leave right away in the morning to get to a family party, but it would be a fun time.

Oh, it is at The haunt.

And our son might play with Crow.

Bumpage for Zeugma.

*le bump*

but still no info from me yet, sorry. my one possible ride home hasn't answered me yet if I can even have a ride, and if he says no, then I'm definately leaving Friday.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Well, we are still not sure, either, at this point. It would certainly be very mature of us not to go.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

We are going.

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

Oh shoot! We've actually going to a holiday party that night! [Frown]

Big congrats to your son, though, that's awesome! [Big Grin] Hope you enjoy your brief time in Ithaca, looks like it's going to warm all the way up to the 30s by then! [Smile]

It's supposed to snow on Friday too. But, if it does, that means I'll be here, so if you still come in, let me know. I'll give you my cell # via email or something.

Zeugma and Kojabu? Is Kojabu back from vacation yet?

Well, my son did not get to play last time, but he is playing next Saturday, 9 PM at The Lost Dog.

We are coming in on Friday night, late, and have a ton to do on Saturday, but it would be great to maybe get together for breakfast on Sunday?

Or, of course, we could meet at the show, but it is never the best place to actually talk.

My son is going to play one song with the band.

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

I'm coming back tomorrow! And the Lost Dog is oh so close to where I live, within walking distance, so I'll definately be able to make that. And something Sunday morning sounds good too.

Yes!

I would be there, but I work 3rd shift that weekend. [Grumble]

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Stan the Man,would you be up for breakfast/brunch on Sunday?

Zeugma, where art thou?

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Also, Stan the man, I did not know there was another Ithaca area resident. Cool beans!

Posted by HollowEarth (Member # 2586) on :

<--- Also lives in Ithaca.

Sunday brunch sounds great! Do you have any places in mind? The DeWitt Mall, once an elementary school, has an interesting little brunch place in the former cafeteria, and Just a Taste and Maxie's are always popular for brunch... and up the hill a little, ABC and the new Carriage House Cafe have great choices.... what do y'all think? [Smile]

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

No way!
A real breakfastcon!
HollowEarth, any chance of you coming to the Lost Dog Saturday night?

Zeugma, I am not sure where, I LOVE Maxie's. Maybe somewhere within walking distance for Kojabu?

I don't live in Ithaca. However, I do live in NY (at the moment), and have no problem driving. I just can't drive that far this weekend. Unfortunately with the weather and all it would make it impossible for me to be able to do this safe. My tires don't know the definition of traction. Well, they know enough to get to work and back.

S'all right. I'm here for a couple more years and I have a few road trips planned later this year in which I might be in a neighborhood near you.

Posted by HollowEarth (Member # 2586) on :

I'll have to see. I just got back from my parents house, yesterday so I'm not sure what things look like yet.

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Oh that brunch place is great!

Maxie's definately isn't within walking distance for me... Anything in the Commons area is.

Hollow where are you in Ithaca?

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

How early does Maxie's open?

We will have to leave fairly early on Sunday. (I mean, before 2)

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Mmk, can I grab a ride from someone?

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

Kojabu, if you're near the commons, I can pick you up. You'll be on my way to Maxies (I'm out in the Commonland townhouses, if you know where they are).

Neat! Their BBQ Tofu can't be beat. [Big Grin]

I have no idea where those are, but I live on E. Seneca St.

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

Ok, no problem. What time should we meet?

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Are we getting brunch right when it opens?

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Would 11 AM be too early?
We have a five hour drive, and will try to leave Ithaca fairly early.

Zeugma, can you come to the Lost Dog? Crow's show is at 9 PM.

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

11am is fine for me!

Not sure about Saturday night, we might have a friend from Albany visiting then. .. I'll check!

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

Works for me too. So I guess you'll be picking me up a little bit before that? What's your email address, I'll send you my address and phone #.

Posted by Zeugma (Member # 6636) on :

Cool, sounds good... my email is alr25 at cornell.edu. I'll try to remember to charge my phone before then, too. [Smile]

We are staying at the Clarion on Trippenhammer Rd.

I hope you can come to the Lost Dog, Zeugma. Momma needs to show off her son.

Kojabu, you are coming, right?

Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :

As far as I know! It'll be upstairs right?

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

I never got your phone numners!!!!

I am going to see Kojabu Saturday night.

We will be in a little clump with two kids, one with a guitar, one with a Gameboy.

I will try to check this thread before we leave this afternoon.

If I do not hear, I will plan to meet you at Maxie's at 11 AM Sunday morning.

Oh, and Kojabu, I want to know your real name! can you "e" it to me? edob63@yahoo.com

It happened!
Kojabu and Zeugma are real!

What a nice couple of gals. We had a lovely brunch today, and Kojabu came to see Crow Greenspu,. Since my son is real, and I am, that made Kojabu real. Then, the two of us made Zeugma real.

So there you have it.

Posted by MyrddinFyre (Member # 2576) on :

Oh nice! And I hope they come around here sometime, I'd love to see Crow Greenspun.
