just thinking about it. The whole Dyngus day concept, not Kama's particular idiosyncracies.

I can't say I'm a fan of the day. I usually just don't leave home.

Kama, that is a disgusting image.
Someone, get it out of my mind!

Dyngus Day is a very big day here in South Bend, IN, too. I usually get warned several times to go straight home and be careful on the roads because of all the drunks. I've only been warned once today so far.

I sprinkled him with water, what did you think?

I remember reading about dyngus day in some series of childrens books when I was little, they were set somewhere in the north central US (let's go with Minnesota), about a Polish family, and spanned from right after they immigrated till like the 60s, Pelowaski or something similar, I think one of the books was called "Betsy's Summer" and she actually read the Betsy Tacy Books, so I started reading them too.

I remember reading about it in The Good Master.

*squees* Someone else who's read The Good Master! I loved that book! There's a Polish guy here at my work who mentioned the Easter-Monday tradition of splashing water on unmarried girls, it made me think of that book when I hadn't thought of it in years.

What the deuce are you all talking about? This phrase is completely unfamiliar to me.

I loved that book, too! It always reminds me of Christmas, because it was a Christmas present. And I got The Singing Tree around Easter of that same year, so I was thinking about it the other day.
