Not sure if this is on the up and up, but I also don't know how many of you browse Craig's List for writing jobs on a regular basis. This is on the DC listing page, but they have them for cities all across the country...

Anyway, just saw the listing and thought of the 'Rack.

I only post this because Craig's List has a pretty good reputation about keepint its site clean. We use it primarily for housing, but scanning the listing site reveals postings from Washingtonpost.com, the National Journal, and the NYT.

Quit carping just for the halibut, Trevor. [Razz]

I'm usually more in tuna with this sort of thread. Too bass a mind today, I guess.

(halibut = classic [Big Grin] )

Feh, Megan did it on porpoise.

She's always been a little sealy.

If that's your sole vice, Porter, we won't hold it against you. You can't always pickerel your own feelings -- sometimes, crappie happens.

[Gar, Noemon, aren't you the piker?]

Man, people are just reeling them off in here. There are puns trout the thread. But I guess it'll keep going tilapia get finished.

They're taking the bait--hook, line, and sinker.

[these are REALLY awful. I'm really, really sorry.]

Posted by AntiCool (Member # 7386) on :

Not as sorry as I am.

[No No]

*feels chastised and gives mph a puppy-dog look*

but...but...they started it!

Posted by AntiCool (Member # 7386) on :

*pulls out condescending and over-used parental quip*

If everybody else started jumping off a bridge, would you do that to?

[Group Hug]

(a grouper hug for AntiCool)

Walleye might if they looked like they were having fun.

If I knew I'd bounce at the bottom, probably. [Big Grin]

Come on, don't be so crabby! I'm trying to enjoy my time at school.

Posted by Cow-Eating Man (Member # 4491) on :

Yeah, Porter, clam up. How very shellfish of you to try to ruin our fun.

I don't know what triggers the random punning of a thread, but it's happened and we're just going to keep making snapper relies.

*resists*

There's a bridge near where I grew up in upstate New York which I have jumped off several times. Its fun!

And, yes, I did it because everyone else was.

*peers suspiciously at mph*

What, pray tell, are you resisting?

You're not the only one that can manage a stern look, mister!

*looks sternly at mph over the rim of her glasses*

On a scale of 1-10, I'd rate this pun thread at about 5--definitely of the uninspired variety. As with most pun threads of this ranking, this one will peter out soon. If I were you, Porter, I'd just wait for it to abait.

I'm trying to convince my friend Britt to join the forum. She's an expert at puns. If I can convince her to sign up, Britt'll star in threads like this one.

Kindly note that "gar" is both a fish and a Tolkien reference.

Sorry chum! Didn't mean to offend!

::hammerhead against wall::

Oh, why do I always say the wrong thing? I could just krill myself for my insensitive comments!

Well, it's not like I was all puffered up about it.

Did you hear that the Cards are thinking of starting a seperate forum just for pun threads*? It's still in beta while they try to work out the bugs, but I think it's a great idea!

*no, not really. It seems obvious that I'm not serious here, but OSC seems to get a bit crabby when he thinks people are falsely claiming he said something that he didn't, so I thought I'd err on the side of caution and post a disclaimer.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

(I thought it was a subtle reference to the card game, "Go Fish!" It'd be just like you to pull a shiner, though. Minnow you too well.)

That you do, that you do.

Well, you'd think so, but CT's failure to post anything further makes it seem to be that she's being koi.

I've smelt something coming ...

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

Of course, now *my* pun doesn't make any sense.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

... and it wasn't a ray of hope, either.

Ratfish.

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

I'm having trouble coming up with more puns on the fly. I'll have to think for a minute before I come up with any more.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

It's definitely a roughy task.

Posted by Cow-Eating Man (Member # 4491) on :

Burned yourself out posting so many in a roe?

Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :

Icarus, why don't you invite your wife to participate in this thread? Cor'll be able to come up with some more marine puns.

Great, now this thread has the ick.

They are just trying to eel out of it now.

Clearly this thread has been brought back to the surface by the nightcrawlers trying to bait us into more puns.
