There is a feral cat shelter just a stone's throw from the Parliament building in Ottawa, Canada. It is a set of cute little connected houses and sun-perches poised on a hillside right near the statue of Queen Victoria. Community volunteers feed the cats, arrange for vaccinations and neutering, and keep up the housing.

Very neat! [Smile] Pictures here. More stories and links are also available online.

[Smile] I really like Parliament Hill. Did you tour the Parliament Buildings? What else did you do?

My favourite picture was the one of the ginger cat on the white chair.

Boris: They are amazingly calm and self-poised. They snooze as the black squirrels essentially climb over them to snack on the food.

Teshi: We attended to some work meetings, and we spent a lot of time walking around. Went through the Museum of Civilizations, had to pass on a tour of Parliament (not enough time), and hung out (with former Prime Minister Paul Chretien! although we didn't bother him) at the Byward Market. Saw an IMAX on Vikings. Drove through the Gastineau mountains. [Smile]

Next time, the National Gallery and tour of Parliament. We're working on getting jobs in Ottawa in a few years.

Neat! I actually discovered them when I was ten (1992), on a trip to Ottawa with my mother and grandmother. We were walking around and found this little grove with all these shoes and things hanging from the trees, and boxes and cats everywhere. The 'Catman' as they call him was there and talked to me for a bit. I wrote a story about him when I came back. I don't remember the sunhouses though...The business seems to have expanded a bit since then!

The Museum of Civilization is one of my favourite museums in the world, but I love the Architecture of the Art Gallery...

I miss the Gatineau Hills!

Ottawa/Hull is a great place [Big Grin] .

They ignore the squirrels because they're too big to chase one down. [Big Grin]

Those are some huge cats.
