The day I first notice the days are getting longer.
The day I first notice the grass is getting green.
The day that I notice my first spring flower (this year it was snowdrops in my yard that I didn't know were there.)
The moments before a summer storm when the sky is dark but no rain has fallen yet.
The day I first notice a hint of autumn on the breeze.
Waking up unexpectedly and discovering I still have an hour or more before I have to get up. (NOTE: "waking up" not "being awakened".)
When I hug Chris then relax my arms only to find he's still hugging back.
What are some of yours?

Finding out that my awesome Japanese professor will be teaching a section of Japanese II next semester.
(Now I just have to hope I get into that section...)

When someone I really want to talk to signs on to AIM
When I'm at the movies and all settled in to watch and the lights start to dim
When I watch the weather channel and even though it's drab and rainy today, it says it's going to be 58 in two days! (happened this morning)

Ooh, one more.
When my boss gives me another of her winning Pepsi lids, which entitles me to a free song on iTunes. It's really nice of her.

When there's a well-done happily ever after in a romance movie, like the end of Pride and Prejudice.
When I get done teaching and know that I've had a particularly good teaching day.
The thrill at seeing some companies' logos at the start of the film (used to be Disney; is now Pixar).
When I get an email from my best friend, Karen.
When my husband teases me, and then, all of a sudden, goes all sweet and gives me a hug and a kiss.

When I have a work project that I expected to take a week to complete, but I finish it in two days and have to figure out something else to spend the rest of the week on.

Hey! I'll save mine for you as well, HG. (I drink Pepsi to ward off impending migraines -- infrequently, but it does happen).

My roommate pointed out to me last spring (something I was theretofore unaware of) that I always start listening to Latin music in the springtime.
And she was right - something about the days being sunny and the windows being open and the flowers blooming puts me in a Mana state of mind.

("when evening falls": a.k.a. l'heure bleu )
Sometimes just after I wake, I have a bright and tingling feeling all through my body, as if I were passing through a shower of liquid gold. (No, not that, and not that either. ) It feels like every cell in my body is bathed in perfect pleasure.
[Yes, I'm sure it isn't that. This is different -- very peaceful and serene.]
It is what I think it must feel like to mainline heroin -- a pure endorphin release. I love it when it comes, and I could see giving up many things to have it more often. Luckily for me, it is a happenstance thing, and so I am not faced with such a choice.

Of course I don't say no to free stuff, but you really don't want them? It's really easy to use. You just put in the code and pick out a song.

*grin
I'm not big into music, so I always throw them away. From now on, the codes are yours.

When I find my first dandelion of the spring. I know that most people hate them, and spend time and money ridding them from their perfect lawns. I don't though - to me they're flowers, and bright yellow ones at that. Not only are they bright yellow, but once they turn to seed they become beautiful wispy puffs that are such fun to blow, making those seeds become tiny parachutes. I hope we have a ton this year.

Waking up on a sunny lazy day and feeling as though I could nap in the sunshine forever.
Standing out in a summer rain, jumping in the puddles and getting soaking wet knowing that I can go inside when I want and be warm.
Waking up cuddled into Tom's chest.
Watching the glow on Tom's face as he progresses through a line of thought, intensely focused.
Sophie's coy looks and looks of triumph.

When I was in rehab, and Steve lay down next to me in the bed, and I felt his arms around me for the first time in weeks.
The first sip of coffee in the morning.
Seeing the first seeds in the garden emerge.
The feeling right before I fall asleep for a luscious afternoon nap.

Telling a good story, and having everyone crowd around and laugh at the end
lying down on a freshly made bed, in my clean room, and being able to look over and see... the floor.
Getting homework done in the beggining of class and getting a good grade.
Waking up at a godly hour past 5:30 in the morning.
When my brother stubs his toe, or falls down (I know it's horrible, but he deserves it)
buying a brand new movie and sitting down and watching the whole thing and only being interupted once, and that was to get a snack.
oh and seeing the ground! I love the ground! Hate snow, love the ground!
