I mean, plenty of people still speak Yiddish, and Hebrew was revived for Israel.
But Ladino...?
And how about Judeo-Arabic?
Posted by Shmuel (Member # 7586) on :
I'm pretty sure Ladino is still in regular use. I don't know about Judeo-Arabic, though.

Not very many, but some.
As far as Judeo-Arabic, would that be what my Sephardi friends of Egyptian descent speak?

The rabbi at my high school spoke Ladino. There are Ladino speakers out there, you just have to know where to look.

Some members of my family speak Ladino. And some speak Arabic, though I am not sure if it is Judeo-Arabic, per se.

There was a lecture at Rothberg recently given by someone in Judeo-Arabic. And I think a few people actually went.
And yeah, I know several people who speak Ladino. More than Judeo-Arabic!

But I know a lot of people who speak Plaut Deutsch.
Posted by Raia (Member # 4700) on :
That was so relevant.

It's a language. It's sorta almost relevant. Isn't it?

Yeah? Well, I met a lady who is one of twelve surviving native speakers of Hanmolshalchamqan. So there.
I think maybe I already had this obscure language pissing match.
