... went out for a birthday dinner with them and he just told me. Guess they had sent out the invitations 5 months ago but kept us out of the loop till now. Next month they are having a judge come over to her house and have the ceremony.

Of course when I tell my Mom there will be a nuclear meltdown... I'll be surprised if you guys don't hear about it in the news. And my brother is not invited...because he is still hostile to my Dad leaving Mom for this new woman.

Ugh... so much f*$%#@$ drama. Blah...

I'm not going to tell Mom till after the weekend so I can actually have a birthday. This is not going to be good. She's been asking and asking me "is your father getting married?". Well...I guess we know now.

Dad wants me in the wedding. I don't think I should tell my brother or Mom about that.

Waitaminnit, he sent out invitations FIVE MONTHS AGO and didn't bother to tell part of the bridal party until NOW?????? :mindreel:

I don't know what advice to offer WRT telling the rest of the family beyond wearing full body Kevlar when you do say something. But I'm sending you what strength I can to help you deal.

It could be worse. When I first read the title I thought it said, "My dad and my girlfiend are getting married." I thought, that's a Jerry Springer show.

Hang in there, and hey, happy birthday.

Happy Birthday, Telpy. [Smile]

Sorry about the situation - that's a difficult place to be in.

There's no winning this situation, just minimizing the casualties.

Good luck.

Personally, I think both of your parents are behaving badly. Your mom keeps asking and asking you about your dad? Bad enough that your dad leaves your mom for another woman, but then you get it from both sides? Yikes!

I hope you have a much better birthday than the preceding days led up to! You're welcome to join us for the birthday party we're throwing tomorrow for my son's 12th birthday. We're going to the Pacific Science Center in Seattle with 9 boys. It should be total chaos, but fun chaos. The boys get to make rockets and shoot them off.

Um, yeah, I sympathize. My parents fought over my custody for 15 years, until I turned 18. They lied, got people to testify to their lies, all kinds of stuff, couldn't be within 500 feet of each other without yelling. My brother just turned 18, and they're still fighting over him...

Oh, man, what a situation for them to put you in. I'm hoping it all goes well.....maybe someone else could tell your mom?
