What can we say? Thank you Garry Kasparov for thirty years of great chess!

[Frown] I hope he enjoys his retirement. Kasparov is one of the few chess players whose name most people recognize.

Soon as I heard this on the news this morning, I knew it would be a Hatrack thread... =)

So uhh, now what. It's not like he can spend a leisurely day down at the chess park or anything.

Boris: Somewhere in that article he talks about his future life. He still has to work for his series On My Great Predecessors, so he's not ENTIRELY giving up chess. He also said he might play in rapid tournaments - meaning less time per game, so he would be able to physically resist.

He's also quite involved in Russian politics, but that's another matter, and how wise it is only time will tell.
